This is the 4th set of these ceiling rod holders I have ordered from this company -- both the product and the company are excellent-- very reasonable price for a solid metal ceiling rod rack set. Each set(front and back)holds 4 rods AND REELS(accomodates either fresh or salt -- very heavy weight to ultra lite-- and you control the distance between the front and back racks, therefore you can have a rack or racks for poles of any size (one of mine holds four 10 ft+poles and their companion reels-- another set holds 4 ultralite 5 foot freshwater poles and companion reels.) By the way, this is the only company I have found that offers this product--it was delivered very promptly and well packaged (really doesn't need the secure packaging for they are as solid as a rock.) All hard ware came with the rack(two long screws). I would suggest that some self-stick foam tape be used to protect the smaller diameter section (the front rod section)--However, this is really not that necessary -- my hangup. I expected a heavy plastic product and was pleasantly surprised to find it made of strong metal. Good product, good price.

I'm very satisfied with this basic rod holder. I bought 2 of them to mount to a overhead horizontal surface. They mount with 4 screws. They're constructed from a fairly thick sheet steel and protected with a thick coat of paint. The poles fit in very well. Easy in, easy out. If you're looking for a basic rod holder that works well, this is it.

This thing will likely weigh more than the rods it holds! Very pleased. Comes with screws to mount to studs; i used some 3" 3/16 toggle bolts. I was scared to use a molly bolt...like i said, those steel plates are heavy!

Initially, I had the rack installed in my living room secured around our window frame and it was simple task. It looked awesome at first then I became annoyed with having my rods on display in the living room. This rod rack is such a versatile product that I decided to secure it to the vaulted ceiling in my storage area. The walls in my apartment are weak and flimsy, so I used thicker screws to secure it to the ceiling and reinforced it with Gorilla tape. It's ugly to look at now, but it's a storage area! Most importantly, my rods are out of the way and easy to access.
(The screws that came with this rod rack are heavy-duty. Even if I didn't use them for the installation of this product, I'm sure they will come in handy for a future project).

Best rod rack I've seen by far. Very heavy, sturdy painted steel. Comes with two bolts long enough to do the job right.

I was concerned that the holes would not be big enough to hold a surf fishing rod that is very large in diameter because I've checked a few at Dicks sporting goods and haven't found any that will, but it holds mine with room to spare. One 12 foot rod does have to be finagled a bit to get the middle section to fit, but it does.

Only drawback is it only holds 4 rods and I would like some rubber coating around the v-shaped slot to protect the rods. I plan to buy another now that I know they fit.

Very sturdy construction. These are steel, not plastic.

Required for installation:
-Electric drill
-3/16" bit
-Phillips driver bit
-Measuring tape

Pros:
-Permanently organized my fishing rods in less than 30 minutes.
-Won't break.
-Screw holes are spaced to span two wall studs.
-Mountable on the wall or ceiling.

Cons:
-Box arrived damaged and the product fell out under its own weight(product was undamaged).
-The slots should be spaced farther apart. When hung horizontally on a wall, each of my reels blocked the rod below it, so you have to move one to remove another.

I have three of these mounted on the ceiling in my garage. They are sort of a pain to install of course anything overhead is when you don't have help. I'll give you a suggestion just throw away the flat head screws that it came with and use some 1 1/2" Phillips head drywall screws instead.

You can of course mount them on the wall vertically or horizontally. They are good racks like I said I bought one then said well this is good enough that I'll get two more so I can keep all my poles up and out of the way. Would definitely buy again.
