4.0 out of 5 stars Solid ski rack
I was pleasantly surprised at this rack. It was very solid and easy to hang on the wall. No real frills, but looks good and will do the job.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this rack
I had to take this down because it is worthless for downhill skis. I mean, if I have to buy stainless, strip-resistant screws, why pay $49? If I have to use a bungee cord to hold the skis in, why buy this rack? If I have to mount extra wood padding below the drill holes, and it still tilts downhard, why use this? As another reviewer has mentioned, this rack doesn't...

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this rack, May 27, 2008

I had to take this down because it is worthless for downhill skis. I mean, if I have to buy stainless, strip-resistant screws, why pay $49? If I have to use a bungee cord to hold the skis in, why buy this rack? If I have to mount extra wood padding below the drill holes, and it still tilts downhard, why use this? As another reviewer has mentioned, this rack doesn't work for newer raised plates on downhill skis below the toe piece.

I do have this rack for *cross-country* skis at our mountain cabin, and it works fine, but for downhill it does not work, and I would not recommend buying it.

For downhill I would recommend a tip rack and that's what I eventually installed. Unfortunately I had already hammer-drilled and installed a lag bolt in our concrete garage wall to anchor the 2x4 for the Racor rack.

3.0 out of 5 stars Does the job, but could be sturdier, January 22, 2008
This review is from: Racor Pro SR-4R Four Pair Ski and Pole Rack (Tools & Home Improvement)
I installed this in my garage and it does the basic job of getting the skis and poles organized,so it is a product that I would recommend. However, I think it could use some improvement so that it could be a 4- or 5-star product. Specifically:

The skis want to slide out of the rack so I have to use a bungee cord to keep them from sliding out. It looks like the rack was designed before the advent of today's binding technologies with the toe piece that is raised so high off the surface of the ski, so there isn't enough contact/friction to keep the skis retained.

Minor complaint is that the bolts provided with the rack have heads that are made of relatively soft material and strip easily. I had to use a hack saw to cut one, re-position the rack and then use my own bolts to hold the rack in place.

3.0 out of 5 stars Works for some skis and poles, December 8, 2007

I have not installed these yet, but have checked them out with several different types of skis and poles. Contrary to the description, the rack does not fit all ski types. It appears to work fine for
- downhill skis
- downhill poles
- touring X-C skis with 75 mm bindings

It does not appear to work well for
- X-C touring or track skis with NNN bindings
- skate skis
- skis with Voile telemark release bindings
- X-C touring poles
- X-C track/skating poles

2.0 out of 5 stars Ski Rack, August 27, 2007
This ski rack is for older skis. The space between the skis is not wide enough to accommodate newer skis and their bindings. If you set the skis on the floor and move the rack up past the bindings (which defeats the idea of hanging the skis off the floor) then the skis will fit. We are going to do this and use a bungee cord around the front to keep the skis from falling forward which is what happens when the skis are placed in there in this manner.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to Install and Works well, February 10, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This Item is exactly as advertized. Install was extremely easy and I did not experience any of the issues with inferior hardware as stated in other reviews. Product is simple but functional and works well with 2 sets of skis and boots (Nordic). In use in my garage- looks good and keeps the skis off the floor and ready to go whenever I am!

Overall the rack is great, a little more guidance in the instructions would have helped.

4.0 out of 5 stars Exactly what it looks like, February 20, 2009

What can you say about a ski rack? It hangs on the wall, holds my skis, boots, & poles, doesn't fall off the wall. Build quality is pretty okay, a little sub-par for the price. The instructions left something to be desired, but again, it's a ski rack. Not like figuring out how to attach it to the wall is rocket science.
