Product Description

The Rada Cutlery Stoneware Pizza Baking Stone absorbs heat to maintain an even baking temperature. The textured surface produces pizzeria-type crusts for superior results. Rada stoneware can go directly from the freezer to a pre-heated 400 degree oven without cracking the stoneware. No pre-use seasoning is required: before using your stone for the first time, simply rinse it in warm water and towel dry. There is no need to season and re-season before every use, Rada stoneware is naturally stick resistant. A light spritz of cooking spray will enhance the release properties for use with egg dishes or wet batters. Rada stoneware is dishwasher safe! Unlike most other brands of stoneware, Rada stoneware can be washed in the dishwasher. Rada stoneware has a 3 year manufacturer warranty against defects in material, construction or workmanship. (The warranty does not apply to damage resulting from misuse, abuse or accidents.) Stone measures 15 inches round.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for Everyday Use! February 22, 2011
By Taryn

Two main selling points for me about this item: it's dishwasher safe (yes!), and it's made in the USA. The baking stone heats everything very evenly, and gives leftover pizza that "fresh out of the pizzeria" taste. I love that you can cut food right on the baking stone, and that you don't have to use any additional tools (other plates, etc.). Once it cools, you can put it right into the dishwasher if you don't have time to wash it right away. The baking stone is also very sturdy and can be put right into a hot oven when it's cold.

If you're new to baking stones, Rada Cutlery includes a really useful brochure with food suggestions, cleaning tips, and even recipes for pizza sauce and pizza dough. This is a great everyday cooking item, and I highly recommend it for avoiding that soggy or overheated pizza taste!

This great for making pizza. I haven't tried cookies yet, but my Pizzas come out perfect. Its a great product at a good price that is made in the USA. You can't go wrong buying this baking stone.

- The baking stone is about 1/4 of an inch thick.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Nice Kitchen Addition January 12, 2011

I bought this as a Christmas present for my boyfriend. It made a great gift along with a pizza peel, cutter, and a pizza cookbook. However, I love it so much that I haven't let him take it home yet. It definitely turned out to be a Homer-Simpson-bowling-ball gift! I shopped around a bit, and this stone was one of the best priced ones I found. It arrived in a timely fashion and was well packaged with no delivery damage. It works great for baking any type of bread, not just pizza dough. The only thing I don't like about it is that it is a bit difficult to clean. However, I've never owned a baking stone before so that might just come with the territory. All in all I would highly recommend this product - it is a very nice kitchen addition. I just wish this brand made a smaller sized baking stone that would fit in my counter top convection oven!

Buying reasons: made in the U.S., good reviews on Amazon and nice product description.

I actually bought it for my ex who likes to make two pizzas at a time for larger gatherings or just to have extra pizza to send home/leftovers. (She reheats hers, I eat mine cold)

So back to the stone - it has the name and some grooves embossed on one side which is nice to let steam escape since home ovens don't reach the temp to "float" the pizza shell on a blanket of steam.

We did temper this a bit, although RADA says there is no need and can go from the freezer to a 400 degree oven so there is obviously good quality built in.

So the pizza on this stone came out the same as the one on the older stone - this stone is a bit thicker than the other stone (maybe 1/8 of an inch).

So after two pizzas and one artisan bread it gets a five - I didn't know what else to give it as it performed as you would expect. Came nicely packaged.

So if any of the other three stones we jointly have get broken, I would readily purchase another RADA (although I have had one square stone for 35 years and it is a lovely shade of black and perfectly self-seasoned from hundreds of pizzas and artisan breads).

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Pizza Helper! April 11, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase
I love this new addition to my kitchen! I'd never made pizza in my life. But decided, since I order it once or twice per month for myself, why not just make it at home! Well, my first-ever homemade pizza (both the crust AND the sauce) came out PERFECT!! It rivaled my favorite local joint. The crust was exceptional, no burn, no partially cooked dough. Just perfect! And my pizza stayed warm a long time. And, it is not that hard to clean either! If you are deliberating and debating as to whether or not you want to get this - unless budget constraints are a concern - well you can stop now. Get this - you won't regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth buying.... March 10, 2011

First time I've ever used a baking stone. It's easy to use and my bread comes out evenly baked with a golden, crunchy crust. My only suggestion is, buy a pizza peel at the same time you get it. Sprinkle some cornmeal on the pizza peel, allow your dough to rise on it. Once finished rising, all you do is give a gentle shake or two and the dough slides to the baking stone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rada Stone October 30, 2010

I'm still learning to use this product. It is extremely even in baking. I am planning on making bread soon and am excited to see how it does with my artisan breads.
The only thing I would suggest to add when someone buys this is more complete instructions and maybe recipe booklet. When I make my breads - I'll be guessing on it's use.
