The Best Knives!,
By Lisa (Frederick, MD United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Rada Cutlery Cooks Utility Knife, Made in USA, Aluminum Handle (R140)
DO NOT PUT IN THE DISHWASHER! I have owned Rada knives since I got married 23 years ago. I have the paring knife, the cooks utility and the french knife. I also own Analon knives, two of which cost the same as an entire knife-block-full of Rada knives. They sit in my drawer and I grab the Rada every time. I sharpen them every 5 or so uses and they are really sharp! They have never been professionally sharpened. I have a Fiskars 40127097 Knife Sharpener handheld knife sharpener, although mine is 2 stage. One of the things I like about these blades over expensive knives is the blade is not super thick and yet glides right through hard foods like carrots. I can also slice paper thin tomatoes with these. I can't say enough about these knives. I have used Analon, Kitchenaid, Wustoff and yet these are my favorites!

This is the best chopping knife I have EVER owned. It cuts ANYTHING, veggies, tomatoes, bones in meat, you name it! Very light weight, easy to clean and very sharp. Don't know how I got along without this Rada chopping knife. You gottta' get one. For the money, it is absolutely incredible. I am going to buy a couple more Rada knives.

I have several pieces of Rada cutlery, they are the best knives I have ever had. I very rarely have to sharpen them, and when I say rarely I mean at intervals of about every 3-4 years. They are very durable and last forever. Buy these knives!

Found this knife by word-of-mouth. It is my favorite knife!! Sharp as can be and easily resharpened when it looses its edge with the available sharpener.

THE BEST KNIVES ON THE PLANET,

This review is from: Rada Cutlery Cooks Utility Knife, Made in USA, Aluminum Handle (R140)
Thirty years ago my son gave me a set of three knives which he bought through a fund-raiser. A paring knife, a peeler paring knife and a stubby butcher. The paring knife got lost about ten years ago, the peeling paring saw one too many visits in the garbage disposal and the stubby butcher has been the workhorse knife. I was never able to ascertain the brand of these knives because the name had long worn off and the handles so discolored from use (doesn't affect the knife one iota!) By chance I ordered a tomato knife a few months ago and realized that my beloved knives were RADA knives. I have since bought members of my family each a set for Christmas, bought a supply of the paring knives to give as hostess/host gifts and have replenished my own set with just about every knife RADA offers. The Cooks Utility Knife is my 'go to' knife next to the peeler paring. There is also no better bread slicing knife. The RADA bread slicer (both sizes) is thin and leaves little if any crumbs behind. You can slice bread paper thin with no problems. Why anyone would buy any other brand of knives than RADA is beyond my imagination. Since I'm going to post this review in several of the RADA knife styles I also want to encourage the purchase of the RADA whisk. Not a better or more efficient one made. For the whisk I would get the plastic handle so it won't get discolored in the dishwasher. I love the brushed metal handles for the cutlery but I wash mine by hand (now) so the handles do stay pristine.I have tossed all of my other hopeless dull, useless, and pathetic knives. I would never buy any knife other than RADA brand having re-discovered them after all of these years. I really can't give it enough accolades and wish I could give them 6 stars.

Sharp but flimsy blade,

I had been given a set of Rada knives and liked the sharpness of the blades. I needed another chef's knife, so I bought this one. Although it's lighter and stays sharper than my Henkels, it takes some getting used to. I've seriously cut myself twice with it. Rada blades are fairly flexible, so they seem to be better for smaller knives than these larger ones. I still use this knife, but it's not really strong enough to be a serious chef's knife.

I bought this to use only as a sushi knife, but I've used it for other vegetables, etc. It works fine for me. The blade is a little thin, but it cuts through every vegetable I've tried so far. Cuts through peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, etc with ease. Recommend.

Love, Love, Love these knives!,

These knives are the best knives I have every encountered. If I am ever cooking at someone else's house, and they don't have Rada knives, I can't stand it. My whole family has their own Rada collection, and typically we add to each others collections for Birthdays and Christmas. They stay sharp and even the ones that my mom got when I was a little kid are still sharp and she has never sharpened them!
Even though it says they are dishwasher safe don't put them in the dishwasher. It's just not good for them. |
