These Rada knives are really terrific. Be careful -- they are very sharp. And, they hold their sharpness. The knife is relatively lightweight and easy to hold. It cuts effortlessly, smoothly and very clean. I like the way it fits in the hand. It washes up just fine. After looking at all of those imported knives and thinking about our taxes, our trade deficit, and our country's serious employment problems, I decided to buy American. Why do we have to ship money and jobs overseas when we have good enough products made here? There are too few of them. Well, I am happy with the knives I bought from Rada. Made right here.

Having received a smaller Rada knife for a gift, looked them up on Amazon as I was most pleased with the smaller knife. This size far exceeds my desires. I have had all sorts of expensive knives and this is far superior. It sharpens very well and is very easy to clean.

First understand I love the Rada knives, in particular those beginning with a W part number, indicating the dishwasher safe versions (Aluminum can discolor over time with dishwasher detergents). My wife uses this a lot, I don't; I prefer for most utility uses and especially for slicing the utility steak knife. I am always giving Rada knives to friends and relatives, just for the heck of it and because I think so highly of them. Get the Rada knife sharpener, which is inexpensive and works superbly well with all the Radas. If you give a knife as a gift, give the sharpener as well. Visitors to our house who "help" in the kitchen invariably comment that they are amazed at how sharp knives are.

That said, as I was perusing this $10 listing to bring an order up to the new $35 limit, I thought I'd best check other sellers. Sure enough, as I've found before on Rada products, one can do much better on eebay dot comm, even after a $2.20 shipping charge for one item.

One more thing, the only Rada product that I believe is no better than any other is the serrated steak knife--there's nothing special about it. The utility steak knife is more comfortably longer and is easily sharpened.

I purchased this knife for a "potato knife" to beat up in the kitchen, but I was surprised to find the Stubby Butcher knife has a thin, flexible blade that's best suited as . . . a butcher knife! I didn't want to like it at first, having had bad experiences with those rubbery stainless steel knives from the '70s and '80s. My concerns were misplaced, since this utensil took an extremely sharp edge that fairly zips through raw chicken, fish, pork and beef like nobody's business. Plus, the edge holds up quite nicely under moderate use, and touches up quickly on a ceramic rod. My darling wife loves the handle (aluminum) as she razors through meats and vegetables. I bought another one to give to one of my sons, and he's impressed with it, as well. Best of all, this is a reasonably priced, American-made product (from Iowa, I think), and I'm tempted to check out their other products. I recommend it.

I LOVE RADA knifes, I have owned mine for 5 years. Holds a good edge (although with any knife you have to sharpen from time to time)recommend getting a sharpener. Don't put in the dishwasher, only hand wash or it will dull the shine of the knife. HIGHLY Recommend these if you want a knife that last.

Love the Rada knives. They deserve 10 stars. These are absolutely the best knives I have ever owned or used. They are heavy duty and very sharp. I also purchased the sharpener and it is a must.

We received a set of Rada Knives for a wedding gift 15 years ago, and other than the handles getting dull, they are still cutting great. This particular knife is my absolute favorite, so much so, that I ordered 2 more. I like having the extra one on standby at the house and the second one I keep at my in-laws for when I have to fix supper for them.

I'm glad my husband, when in an experimental mood, bought several Rada items: this butcher knife (like a heavy duty longer bladed steak knife), the sharpener, the regular and deluxe vegetable peeler, the Rada steak knife (serrated), and the "utility steak" knife. All work well, no, suberbly. All blades are super sharp and stay that way a long while before needing a couple swipes on the Rada sharpener, which is much more convenient than pulling out my electric sharpener. If you are looking for a steak knife or an overall knife for the kitchen, I suggest the utility steak knife rather than the serrated one which simply is not as good for almost any slicing or cutting. The serrated one is shorter. The butcher knife blade is much thicker, with a heafty solid grip, and is good for cutting partially frozen beef into stew beef or other sizes. It is not so large that it cannot serve as a steak knife if you like a heavy duty one. The utility steak knife (non-serrated) is my favorite for everything, as it is long enough and thin enough (hollow ground, as well) to serve as a superb slicer. The dishwasher safe black handle version is W204. Aluminum tends over time to discolor when used in a dishwasher.

I like the regular peeler much more than the deluxe, which is slightly longer and has a thicker handle. The regular is cheaper. The peelers do not dig too deeply, as my more costly Zyliss peeler does, and the tips' sharp edge handles eyes and other imperfections easily.

In order to see the true length of the knives, go to radacutlery dot com and click on kitchen knives, then, above the pictures click "view cutlery by size." That page will demonstrate far better than an inch measurement and will enable you to compare sizes with your current kitchen knives.
