Beginners Luck, December 7, 2002
This review is from: Radial Arm Saw Joinery [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I am a beginner just getting started. I purchased a used Craftsman RAS from a relative (who never used it) and am trying to get educated on the RAS as well as woodworking in general.
Curtis appears to be a precise individual. He takes the viewer through the parts of the machine, calibration of the machine, safety and operating technique, lap joints, slip joints, mortise and tenon & dovetail mortise and tenon joints and the jigs needed to make them on the RAS.
You cant expect everything out of a video, but as a beginner I can say that it is well worth the money.
I am searching for and intend to buy more books and instructional VHS like this and would appreciate recommendations of others.

It's better than nothing, January 21, 2010
This video is minimally helpful. Yes, I'd recommend it to others simply because it's the only radial arm saw instructional tape out there. Curtis speaks very slowly with a monotone voice. You don't see his radial arm saw started until 35 minutes into the video. There are only two types of joinery shown - and one of them is an advanced technique which requires very special jigs. Nope, he doesn't show you how to make the jigs.
