Jackpot! One great album you'll never hear on the radio.,

Did you ever hear one song on some obscure new music spot and say to yourself, "That is a really cool song!" And then, when you are buying about 15 CDs from the CD club (b/c you want to finish the darn obligation)and say, "What the heck, let's hear what these guys sound like." And then, a year later, after having over 600 CDs in your collection saying "This has got to be one of my favorite CDs of all time!"? Have you? Well, guess what? This is the band! Radiance is the CD! Why haven't those guys put out another CD? C'mon already! My recommendation...it's the best CD you'll never hear on the radio. If you like all those bands like Thirdeyeblind and Matchbox20 and the GinBlossoms then you'll love this group. It's all their without all the overplay you get with other "Modern Pop' groups.

Hooked on Athenaeum,
By
This review is from: Radiance (Audio CD)
This was the album that demonstrated that Athenaeum could deliver top notch songs with both musical quality and lyrical genius. Each track on the CD demonstrates a great deal of depth in their talents. As I get older, the angst and issues so beautifully communicated through song are still relevant to life today.

Athenaeum's newly-released "Radiance" has taken complete possession of my CD-player. I listened to "What I Didn't Know" about a zillion times when I first got the CD, and even better, the rest of the album is great too. Like many bands from the area, they're fresh and talented, but it's not hard to see or hear what makes Athenaeum different. Lead singer Mark Kano has an powerful and gripping voice, and the music and lyrics crafted by Mark and the band are full of feeling and emotion. Keep an eye on Athenaeum...they're definitely worth watching.

Not gonna lie.....,

I'm a sucker for for 90's college coffee house rock bands, and this CD definitly ranks up there with the best of them. What's interesting is that I cannot reallly compare this band to anyone else, maybe a softer Eve 6 but I doubt that is even approprite. Athenaeum is simply a good rock band. Pick the CD up and you will understand what I'm talking about.

Simply Glowing,

I was one of those people who bought this cd because of the single "What I didn't Know". It was "Flat Tire", "Away" and "Unnoticed" that made me love it.
Mark Kano's voice offers the understanding of someone who knows and the angst of someone who knows too much. The songs all carry a down to earth sentiment. . . your true love is more vibrant than the light of the full moon. . . that you never get tired of listening too.

One of the few cds which every song is unique and enjoyable,

I fell in love with Athenaeum when I saw them as an opening act a couple of years ago. I have to admit, I do not really like to buy cds, as I find them annoying to keep track of, with sky high prices. However, I immediately went out and bought their cd. Which has been worth every penny. The music has deep chords, and strong drumlines, but they're integrated so that they bang around in your head without grating on you. The vocals, while sung in a drawling manner(the lead singer told me he's from North Carolina), are undeniably catchy, and stick around in your head long after the cd is done. Every time I put this cd in, I have to listen to it in its entirety, and yet I am still left wanting more. What else can you ask for?

This CD is such a great buy if your into intelligent, thoughtful music that when you hear it makes you go "Yeah! I was totally thinking that but I didn't know how to say it!" or "That makes absolute and total sense without being simple" its just a great album (by FAAAAR the best I have ever heard) that you can listen to over and over and be moved...OVER AND OVER by the powerful vocals and excellent balance of the band.

A Peeerless Pop Album,
By A Customer
This review is from: Radiance (Audio CD)
Song for song, this is better than matchbox 20, Savage Garden, Third Eye Blind or the other lightweights getting attention. They're also superior in concert to all of the above. Borrow a copy from someone, and I promise you'll wanna buy your own copy from Amaazon.com to support a great band (and to have the record for yourself).

A masterpiece,

Few Cds have grabbed me in the way this one has. I heard about 45 seconds of 'what I didn't know' online and went out the next day, fošnd the CD, and bouth it. It is now one of my very favorits. The lyrics are beautiful and deep but not overwhelming. The music fits each song perfectly, not covering up the lyrics. If you love black lab, gin blossoms, or toad the wet sprocket you'll definatly like this one
