5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic 80's album!
Atlantic Starr really layed it down on this recording. This title along with their other recording "Brilliance" was by far their best work. I remember my days at the roller skating rink back in da day when songs like "Send For Me, When Love Calls and Let's Get Closer" was slammin'. I'm just glad that this title is finally available on cd.

In regards to F. X. Johnson's review...The reason that that the sound quality is muffled and not crystal clear is because this and all other Cd's from this label PTG Records were mastered from VINYL! Hard to believe but true. These ARE NOT the real McCoys. If you go to the PTG website they have a small blurb where they brag about how they got such "great sound" with "state of the art" equipment from vinyl. I personally bought the STARPOINT reissues from this company and was very disappointed when I noticed that on the title track from the "ALL NIGHT LONG" CD the song cuts off several seconds too early and it's very apparent when Renee Diggs kept ad libbing until the fadeout. Now there's just a nasty chop and the song ends abruptly. ALL of the songs are like this. The reason for that I suspect is probably because they wanted to disguise the fact that it was mastered from vinyl as if they had let it fade out like it's supposed too you would hear all the rumble, ticks and pops and surface noise of the vinyl. Another dead giveaway was that their are no new mastering credits anywhere to be found in the CD booklets! So until UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP who holds the rights and the proper original master tapes decides to finally release the real CD I would urge anyone that cares about real quality to pass on this inferior product.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't Bother!!, May 2, 2008
This review is from: Radiant (Audio CD)
If I could've given this rating 0 stars, I would have. I love this album so the rating is not based on the album itself, but the product and the quality. This product is very decieving to CD collectors. It is a [...]!! NEVER BUY A PRODUCT FROM PTG RECORDS EVER!! The CD is from a vinyl record and not the original tapes! You can't play it too loud or you will hear distortion from the vinyl limit. This CD sounds worse than the old CD's reissued in the 80s. A standard CD you are supposed to hear the tape hiss when the song first comes on and when the song fades out. Some of the tracks you don't hear the tape and fades out too quickly to the next track. Pass on this buy. You're better off picking a copy of the viny from the used record store for 5 bucks and transferring it to CD yourself or wait until A&M or who ever has the rights will release a CD from the original master copies.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Radiant Classic, August 11, 2007
This review is from: Radiant (Audio CD)
For those of you who have been waiting for this R&B classic to be released on cd (like me), over all you will not be disappointed. It's great to hear the complete versions of "When Love Calls", "Send For Me" and the radio classic "Am I Dreaming" (for thoes of you youngsters will only know the 1998 version by the group OL SKOOL featuring Keith Sweat and Xscape- Boy, did THAT suck!! BUT NOW, the TRUE Old Schoolers have their ORIGINAL again.
"Does It Matter" was one of my favorite tracks on the album; a song about growing from infancy to adulthood and raising another strong generation.
"Think About That" is a funky jam that you can't help but dance to.
"Mystery Girl" is another fav with vocals handled by Porter Carroll, Jr. I
always liked Carroll's vocals and wished they gave more leads to him.
"Under Pressure" was my least favorite on the album; the vocal is co-lead vocalist co- songwriter Wayne Lewis. Wayne as a vocalist was ok for me (only shining on a few of Atlantic Starr's tracks- in my opinion. "Send
For Me" is one his best). "My Turn Now" is a great closing track by Sharon Bryant. Unfortunatly the downfall of this album is simply the sound
quality it sounds a little muffled or not as crystal clear as it could be,
BUT I think we have become accustomed to todays "Digital World" and must realize that this technology did not exsist in 1980. If you take the sound quality for what it is you will surely find this album enjoyable... It brings back many memories.

I bought this CD thinking I finally have Atlantic Starr Radiant. The sound quality is great. I have had it for a few months and I was listening to it today and notice that on the song Under Pressure it had a flaw. I thought maybe something was on the CD causing the skip. Not so. Right before it goes into the first chorus, there is some singing missing. I know these songs very well and was shocked to see that this CD has that kind of a flaw.
