I can't comment on the accuracy of the unit, but relative levels of X-Radiation seem to be easily determined.

This one only has the one setting for measuring background radiation in beta, gamma, and x-ray.

Look, I really wanted to like this one: it looks nice and I was hoping it would be calibrated well enough to be somewhat useful.
But this is just a toy that even for its low price is nowhere near what it claims to be.

Pros: Visually it looks nice. Color LCD display. Shows descriptions right next to the readings. Mini USB connection

Cons: Very poorly calibrated - the readings are all over the place. It was supposed to come with a test sample - it did not. Nonetheless, I tested it with a small piece of uranium ore that I know emits 1.8 microSiverts per hour within 1 inch from the source. After being placed RIGHT ON TOP of the ore for almost 2 minutes, Soeks was showing .06 uSv/h! That is the difference between your normal background radiation and the dental x-ray! After another 2 minutes the readings went up to 2.1 uSv/h, then back down to .o8 uSv/h. It was all over the place! I can accept some variations, but this is was just completely off. The battery ran out very quickly, after only a couple of tests.

Basically, it failed to detect uranium ore while sitting right on top of it for over 2 minutes! And when it did, the readings were jumping up and down without any consistency.
Soeks looks nice and does not cost a whole lot which is why I bought it, but at the very least I expected it to have some minimal consistency.

This not even your average-grade instrument, but rather just a nice looking toy for someone who does not know any better.

This is a great accurate device to have for testing your own back yard for any increases in background radiation. Since Fukushima, I have been in the market for one of these, and this was the most affordable and developed by a Russian company. Works as advertised. In English and easy to use. Includes a sample of uranium ore for testing the device.

This is the cheapest dosimeter I have found. My main use for this is to alarm when I am in high radiation areas. After some brief testing, it does that job well. I can't comment on the accuracy of the unit, but relative levels of X-Radiation seem to be easily determined. For the price, I recommend this item. If you can spend more money (you need to spend double this price to get to the next level of quality) you should do so. Otherwise, this unit works fine...

Buying SOEKS 01M radioactivity meter has been one of the best decisions of my life. I have so far seen many good, bad or neutral reviews but one particular caught my attention almost instantly. I do not want to name names but it was a 1-star review revolving around a failed attempt at measuring an uranium ore correctly and to the satisfaction of its customer. I myself use the SOEKS 01M radioactivity meter for measuring food contamination and radioactivity. This small gadget helped me take my admiration for radioactivity measurements to the next level. It is not only calibrated well enough to satisfy all my needs but it also has many useful features imbedded that can facilitate and increase the possibility of a precise measurement to take place.

Returning back to the 1-star reviewer claiming that he/she tested the device on a small piece of uranium ore, I have to say that his/her estimations as to the "average" radiation level of a piece of uranium ore is entirely wrong. He has not specified the exact type of that ore. It can pretty much be any kind that currently exist on Earth right now. The Curie, for example, a kind of uranium from Congo emits 35mR/hr, if not more, gamma radiation, which is pretty far away from the value the reviewer have specified for us.

Also, the device might show different results but only because of its sensitivity as well as because it is more sophisticated than its predecessors. Constant and gradual deterioration of materials of any kind should also be taken into consideration when conducting measurements.

The screen had several dead pixels on arrival probably because the packaging was bad and not intended for postal shipping "and handling".

Very flimsy. I could not figure out how to turn the damn thing off - had to take out the batteries and the main button keeps getting stuck in place. Can't say anything about accuracy but if you turn it on and keep it in one place, the numbers jump up and down from .10 to .23. Is that normal for a Geiger Counter? Can anyone else who owns this product tell me please?

I do know ergonomics though and this is sub par. The photos look great, but the letters are hard to read, menu is awkward and the case is so thin that it's easy to drop when pushing the buttons.
I'm sorry but this is just bad design. I expected more from the pictures and info.

It has a couple of nice features but had I known earlier about how cheap and low budget this is I would not have wasted my money.

Also it didn't come in with that radon piece in the package. Some people got the thing but I didn't.
