5.0 out of 5 stars Love it!
I have had a previous version of this game from this company for many years and have played thousands of games. It finally began to malfunction; the keys were hard to press and often didn't function properly. Knowing I could never break the habit, I went online and found this newer version. Its great! I recieved the new big screen lighted version for christmas and did notice that it is a lot harder to win than my older version. I do like the new high score recorder and the undo button. However there seems to be a problem with the programing, the game is suppose to allow three passes through the deck before penalty points are deducted however, if you play the first three cards dealt during any pass through the deck, it will deduct points or will assume you have made another pass through the deck when you deal the next three. It will continue to do this as long as you play the first three cards. I have contacted the manufacturer but have not recieved a response

UPDATE:

I recieved a response back from Radica and they confirmed that there is a problem with this game. However, there was no definative plan for resolving the issue. Below is the exact response from Radica:

"We are aware of the problem and are in the process of attempting to resolve this issue. Unfortunately we do not have a guaranteed time frame for the resolution to take place. I apologize for the inconvenience".

Please let me know if you have any more questions.

I would not buy this product until Radica has fixed the problem and has provided a replacement to all the customers who already own this game. What is truly bothersome is that they continue to sell the product with a known defect.

I recomend it!

I've played solitare on the earlier model thousands of times over a few years. In the new Big Screen Soltaire - Blue, in Vegas style, when you loss, you hit 'new game' to continue the series. When you win a hand in Vegas, you continue to a new hand by hiting 'deal.' This also allows cumlative scoring. But if you inadvertently hit 'new game,' after winning, it ereases everything and starts over. In the earlier model, when you were in Vegas, you could hit either deal or new game without erasing everthing and restarting. That is taking some getting used to.
I must admit I still prefer the old model.

I picked up the earlier version of this game about six years ago and loved it! We were driving from Dayton, Ohio to St.Louis in the winter and I played this game for hours. I liked it so well, I gave one to a close friend for Christmas and she got hooked on it too. You're always trying to outdo your high score. Great entertainment when you're having to sit!

This new version lights up autoatically when you're in a dimly lit area which is nice. I don't think it fits in your hand as easily as the old version and I'm still getting used to the different touch pad. This is good for older adults who need reading glasses as the numbers are large enough to see without your glasses.

1.0 out of 5 stars Programmed to win, December 27, 2005

I have an older version of this game that I have had for several years and I just love. I play it all the time. It's a lot of fun but it is pretty much worn out. I love that it has a big screen so when I saw this one with a big screen I bought it to replace my old game. With my other game I would win about 50% of the time and that was pretty fun. This one is programmed for you to win only about 2% of the games. That isn't any fun at all. I have had this new game about a week and I took the batteries out of it and threw it away. I only wish I could fine the old version again.

This game is so great! I have bought and tossed other games, but this is the one. Nice big screen, noise-off option, easy to play. A challenge, but I have also been able to win. The only minor problem I have is somethimes I can't tell a spade from a club. Maybe need glasses. I highly recommend this game.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's true - fewer wins achievable on this model., July 13, 2007

This is my second Radica solitaire game... my first was their 'Solitaire Lite' which I loved and which lasted several years until I could no longer use one of the keys. This newer version does have a larger screen which automatically lights in dim ambient light, but as someone else noted you DO get noticeably fewer wins on this model, which is said to be the result of a programming error. I'd say I get about 50% fewer wins on this model versus my previous one. Also, scoring is supposedly in multiples of five, yet somehow I often end up with scores that end in a '3'. While disappointing, none of this stops me from enjoying the game. It still beats using real cards.

I probably play over a hundred games of Solitaire a night. I have a hard time sleeping but this game, after playing as many as I do, makes me go to sleep. I haven't read a book in over two months which to me is remarkable because I have read at night ever since Junior High. I am now 62 and playing Solitaire. Thank goodness for it.

I've been using the Radica Solitaire Lite for at least 10 years now and this has been the 3rd one I've gone through. I do NOT lile the "Improvements" they've made to the machine. Much prefer the older models.

This game is great! It comes with me into the bathroom, on trips, and also when I'm watching TV, during the commercials!! I can't seem to go very long without it! I love it! I've just turned 48, and I feel like a kid with this game. Now I understand why children get so into their hand-held games!!
