What a great idea! My daughter loves the ability to combine her photos and videos with great stories that she writes. You should see what she did with our vacation to Cape Cod! You don't have to be artistic to make a beautiful looking journal. Great activity for doing with her friends, too. How can you go wrong at under $30, the camera is worth more than that, alone.

My daughter loved writing in her old diary. This item brings the diary into the modern age. Now she has a multimedia diary with text, pictures, videos and themed backgrounds on the pages. She loves using it.

The is a classic example of a great idea with horrible implementation. The software for this product is awful. It does not even work unless you use
an account on your Windows computer with Administrator privileges. Of course, I don't want my daughter using such an account on our computer.
Secondly, the software itself has many issues. It often cannot find the camera even though it is connected. I have to reconnect it. Certain buttons
and prompts that the manual says should appear, do not appear. Examples of these are the "save" button for loading the pictures from the camera and the password prompt for returning from "Hide" mode.

This product has, however, inspired me to find higher quality products like it.

My daughter got this for her birthday from a friend and was able to figure it out right away.

She has really enjoyed making printouts of pictures with friends that look like scrapbook pages. She prints it out on plain paper from the color printer and then cuts and pastes the whole page into a scrapbook.

The resolution of the digital images is not the best. When they move the camera while taking the pictures they come out a little blurry. But she has learned to be more careful. Also, when she moves the pictures around in the software program they get a little warped, but she does not care.

The camera is real basic and perfect for a 9 year old. My 6 year old boy even loves it and has no problem working the camera. The software is a little more difficult for him, but his sister helps him out a little. They have dropped the camera a few times and so far it still works. I think this is the perfect way for them to get started with their own photo collection.

it was very hard to shop for my ten year old daughter. she wanted more grown up things this year and she asked for this video journal. it's easy to use and I like the fact that she gets to express herself through pictures and through writing. the software is a pain sometimes but she doesn't mind. she has a lot of fun putting together pages of her diary. the camera takes pretty decent pictures for what i paid for it. i wish it had a preview screen! she takes her camera everywhere and then at night updates her diary. she loves this thing and that is what matters.

This was an xmas gift for my daughter. I was so excited about giving it to her and thought it would be fun for her to take pictures and make videos. I understood they wouldn't have sound and would be short. However, the software kept crashing so nothing could get uploaded to the computer unless I tried doing it through windows movie maker, a process which just frustrated my 10-year-old. The software is suppose to make it more user/kid friendly, without that it's not much use. I'll spend the 100 dollars and get a flip cam instead, then she can have 60 mins of vid time, sound, and the thing will function properly. Sometimes you have to pay more to get quality and this certainly is the case.

My 11 year old received this for a birthday gift from a friend, who said she uses hers all the time I was not really excited because my daughter doesnt spend alot of time on the computer, she would rather be outside and active. But the first day she got it we had a blast, first taking the photos then putting the journal together, i helped her get it all downloaded etc, but afther that she was on her own...it is a really cool gift for about the 10-11 year old range
I dont know about younger children and olders children might like something a little better quality but for 10-11 year olds its perfect

It's junk..don't waste your money. I read the good reviews and bought this last year for my daughter and it was a total waste of money. It does not take even decent pictures. I knew it wouldn't take good quality pictures but I expected more then the very low grainy pictures that it did take.

My mom bought me the video journal for christmas.I am 12 years old and I loved it.I just bring my camara anywhere when i see something cool i just take picture and write what i found cool about it.I am sure I am never getting bored with my video journal.

I purchased this camera for my 4 year old daughter for Christmas. She really likes it. The video journal is awesome! I actually had fun playing around with it. The camera takes better photos than I thought it would. It is very easy to upload the photos into the video journal on the computer. The video journal is really neat because you can put the pictures into the electronic diary, and then put flowers or other cute things on the pages (this is part of the video journal program). My daughter is not quite old enough to type sentences about what the pictures were about, so I had to do that for her.
I definitely recommend this product for anyone that likes to be creative and take photos. This is a really neat camera and it comes with the software to upload and create "journal pages". I printed the pages out after I made them, and they were very neat!
