My son received this as a gift. We were really excited to give it a try - to no avail. It never worked! The remote control did not control a thing. The sailer just sat on the asphalt with the sail flapping in the wind. No movement whatsoever. Very disappointing especially after an unsuccessful quest to find a replacement.

Toy failed within minutes of initial use. I usually disagree with negative reviews left for failures. For due to the manufacturing process that are sure to be failures.
What I cannot accept, is after contacting the service e-mail, per the instructions, I received no response. The overall quality of the toy is poor

I received this item as a gift and was impressed initially by the product details at this price level. The chassis, wheels, and overall design looked good. Like other reviewers, I had problems right out of the box. The control motors worked only intermittently for 10 to 20 seconds and then quit completely. I could hear something was being switched inside so I disassembled the sailor to try to track down the problem. The control board is relatively simple and I found that nothing was really wrong other than the control motors appeared to be bound up. This item doesn't use servos in the traditional sense that other remote control cars do, so it was easy to manually power up the motors to get them spinning and that seemed to get the toy working. After I reassembled the item (a lot of screws go into it) I had the same problem again. I found that repeated simultaneous movement of the controls in random directions freed the motors again. I took the sailor out today and after one or two glitches (freed by the random control movements) I enjoyed 30 to 45 minutes of sailing around a local parking lot before I got too cold to continue. My best guess is the manufacturer missed the tolerance on one or more pieces and the motors have to loosen up the bearing points before the sailor will work reliably.
Very annoying if you have the same problem, but it did turn out nicely and I look forward to playing with it some more. |
