This review is from: Radio Bob Dylan's Theme Time Radio Hour (Audio CD)
Dylan's Theme Time Radio Hour is the best thing on radio.
Why oh why would one provide all the songs from a show without Dylan's rap?
Like watching a foreign film in a language you do not understand without subtitles.
The songs are OK on their own, but where oh where is Bob?

3.0 out of 5 stars Free CD From UNCUT Magazine, February 28, 2008

This review is from: Radio Bob Dylan's Theme Time Radio Hour (Audio CD)
"Theme Time Radio" is indeed the best thing on radio--perhaps in the ENTIRE HISTORY of radio. The show almost always starts somber with the spooky, Raymond Chandler-like introductions read by sultry actress Ellen Barkin. Does Bob write those lines? I like to think he does. Once Mr. Dylan hits the satellite waves he can be serious and informative one minute and silly the next. The thematic song selection favors obscure roots music--great Americana from too-often forgotten artists. Then he'll surprise us with a Jackson Browne, Warren Zevon or another mainstream track that fits the weekly theme. I never get tired of listening.

The bad news about this disc, of course, is that these are simply songs that have turned up on Bob's show and it includes none of Mr. Dylan's unique narrative or any of the other exclusive content from the XM Satellite Radio show. I got this CD free with a copy of UNCUT magazine, which is likely the same place the person attempting to sell this one for a hundred bucks got his. If you can find a used CD store before they all go out of business, you'll likely find one of these in the bargain bin...cheap.
