5.0 out of 5 stars WAY BETTER than Big Wheel!
We have the "Original" Big Wheel (not really the same as the original by the way) and it is holding up fine but the kids don't really like it much because the wheel doesn't grip so it doesn't go fast. We bought this Radio Flyer for my four year old and he loves it. He figured out how to twist it from a trike to a chopper and back on the first day. He rides it...

3.0 out of 5 stars Large Tricycle - Great for older or taller kids
I just bought this tricycle for my son who will be 2 in a couple of weeks. He is almost 35 inches and several inches too short for this tricycle. I am disappointed the manufacturer advertises this bike for 2+ years, but doesn't qualify it with the child's height needed to ride the bike. I just bought this tricycle for my son who will be 2 in a couple of weeks. He is almost 35 inches and several inches too short for this tricycle. I am disappointed the manufacturer advertises this bike for 2+ years, but doesn't qualify it with the child's height needed to ride the bike. While the bike is adjustable, it isn't adjustable until your child is ready for the chopper side. That means your child has to be about 36-37 inches at least to be tall enough to start using this bike. My son was so excited to have his first bicycle, but is too small to ride this one. The advertising is misleading...

The bike was easy to assemble and appears to be sturdy. I would recommend it for parents of older children (or taller 2 year olds).

We bought this Radio Flyer for my four year old and he loves it. He figured out how to twist it from a trike to a chopper and back on the first day. He rides it everywhere. It will last for a long, long time. It is well built and well balanced. And it goes fast!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Trike/Chopper, October 6, 2006
This review is from: Radio Flyer Twist Trike (Toy)
My 3 year old and his 6 year old brother love this bike. It's Radio Flyer, so its well made sturdy plastic. Plus your child can grow with it. My 6 year old can also flip it without any help from an adult. This is one bike we'll probably store in the attic for when we have grandkids. It's that nice of a bike.

This is the second Radio Flyer Twist Trike we have purchased for our grandkids. It is easy to change and very durable. This is far superior to the BIG WHEELS. Highly recommend this item for children 3 - 8 years old.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not the best choice for toddlers. Ages 4+, February 27, 2008

My son received this bike for his second birthday from my inlaws. He is taller than most 3 year olds and is off the chart for height for his age because he is so tall. The claims are this bike can be used for ages 2 and up, simply not true. It should be ages 4 and up. His feet barely (only his tip toes) reach the petals on the trike which is NOT adjustable (only the chopper setting is). I am very disappointed as he was so excited to have his first bike and he cannot ride it. The quality seems OK. For the price I would recommend a different bike because I really don't see this bike lasting 5 years. The stickers are already loose and it is brand new. The tires are the cheap hard plastic which I hate on any wheeled product since it cracks and doesn't last. I expect better from Radio Flyer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Trike but should be rated at 2.5 yrs. on up, March 31, 2007
This review is from: Radio Flyer Twist Trike (Toy)
This was a great item, durable, easy to put together, and nice grow with you item. This is not a good starter trike since there is no back support or seat belt. This is also a big trike even for my 2 yr old who is in the 95% for height, he could barely reach the pedals. I would say this is a great trike for a 2.5- 3yr old and one that has been on a tricycle before. I ended up forking out the money for the Kettler Brummi Trike and it is well worth the money! This will be great for when he is a little older and will love the big wheel feature.

4.0 out of 5 stars So far so good..., January 3, 2007
This review is from: Radio Flyer Twist Trike (Toy)
I bought this for my grandson for his 2nd birthday and he loves it. This trike seems to be very well built and the conversion feature is awesome. I was looking for a "Big Wheel" type trike but the reviews of the new "Big Wheels" haven't been so good. Of course my grandson is only 2 so I guess we will see as he grows how durable this trike really is.

5.0 out of 5 stars Much better quality, January 18, 2007

This twist feature is pretty cool - a real tricycle with the handlebars one way, unlock and twist 180 degrees and you've got a big wheel. The lock works just like the height adjustment lock on Razor scooters. My 3-year-old, who never quite took to our traditional tricycle, is eager to ride the Twist Trike in big wheel mode. Keeping my 6-year-old off it is the challenge. I'm also quite pleased with the quality of the Twist Trike, after reading a lot of dissatisfied reviews for the latest incarnation of the Big Wheel.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well built, durable, and the kids adore them, May 30, 2009
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:3.0 out of 5 stars

The Radio Flyer Twist Trike were gifts for my twins third birthday, and the absolutely can not get enough of them. The twist feature of the trike is a lot of fun for the kids. As a Dad, I like the fact that they were well constructed and easy to assemble. I think that perhaps the manufacturer is overstating the age range this trike is appropriate for (my twins are the tallest members of their class and they're barely tall enough to use the trikes, so I would think that two years old would be too young to use this), but all in all it's a great product.

I bought this for my 3 yr old grandson for Christmas. He usually likes the battery powered riding toys -- but I must say -- he has really enjoyed the twist trike! He now rides it INSTEAD of the battery powered. It was Very Easy to assemble & to change it from trike to big wheel is extremely easy. It is very sturdy & durable. I highly recommend this toy!
