ATW Cargo Wagon LOADS OF FUN,
By A Customer

I bought this wagon for my nephew. He was a little over a year old at the time. My sister and brother-in-law now take my nephew in the wagon everywhere they go. The ATW has enough room for the nephew, a picnic, and any gear they may need to drag along. The tires are great for getting through any terrain. The great thing is that now that they are expecting another child there will be plenty of room for the two of them plus gear!

Best Open-Bed-Style Wagon There is!!!!!!!!,

My mom got this for my first child when he was a baby. It is the best open-bed wagon out there (as opposed to the wagons with doors and seats, which are totally different, I think.) We have used it all the time. The ATW has big rubber tires that are great for the street or off-road. This wood bottom wagon is better than the metal bottom one because it's much bigger, and it doesn't get all hot in the sun. I used fit a toddler, an infant carrier and some toys in there and go to the park. Now I fit two toddlers, trucks, snacks, etc. P.S. Buy the umbrella that clips on the side, too.

We bought this wagon anticipating a family vacation at the beach with our 5 and 2 year old boys (each approx 35 lbs). We used this to haul our goodies to the beach daily - it handled the sand very well. When cruising the boardwalk, we had a place to keep our camera bag, snacks, and two boys that wanted to roam too far on their own. The 2 year old also took several naps in it. It fits well in our 95 Ford Windstar with the 3rd seat pulled forward. The handle folds under and the side rails are removable so you can lay it on it's side to fit in even smaller spaces possibly even the trunk of our Nissan Sentra. The flat bottom gives us ultimate flexibility. The wooden sides and bottom won't get too hot too touch. The umbrella was a nice accessory as was the bed pad though the one without the sides is a few inches short. Lots of parents stop us to ask about our choice. We are expecting our third child soon and will be using the wagon for YEARS to come. Parades, zoo trips, beach, neighborhood walks. The perfect transportation when they are too big/too old for a stroller. BUY IT. Well worth the money!!!!

Great toy, needs a little work, but worth it.,

I disagree with some of the reviews that say the wood is like balsa and the floor is flimsy. To me, that seems like a bit of an exageration. I mean, it's not two by fours, but it's just fine for it's use. I don't think the floor is thin at all (I was worried after reading that). I mean, it's built to hold 250 pounds, I think it can do that with this floor. I wish the sides were screwed together instead of nailed, but it will be a long time before this becomes a problem, and it's easily fixed.
Now, the finish... this was a dissapointment. Radio Flyer should go back to it's roots. I can see if your not very handy, this would be a problem. I think the bottom wood would be fine, but the red rails were very poorly protected. I can definetly see how the red paint would rub off on kids hands. It had already rubbed off on the other wood in the package. After reading these reviews, I knew I was going to have to do a little work before assembeling it. It's really not that hard. I just bought a can of water based satin polyurithane and put two coats on all the surfaces. I'm sure you could get away with one, and I probably didn't have to do the bottom, but since I was doing it anyway I figured I might as well do it well. You can also buy poly in a spray which would have been easier, I just prefer to brush it on. All in all it took an extra day of work (between my mom duties) and it's ready to go. I know it's been said many times, but the pads that are sold for this do not fit. I checked them out in Toys R Us, they are way too small. Buy the umbrella from the store, it's cheaper. I made my own pads (just the bottom and one back so the rails can still be taken off) out of some foam, some no-rip nylon and a zipper so I can take off the fabric and wash it because I'm sure it will get filthy. This also was not a big deal and way better than paying the $60 that the pads cost elsewhere. After all that, the wagon is great. It's going to last a long time and give great enjoyment to all the kids it will go through. I'm glad I spent the extra $$ for this model, I am very pleased with it (other than what I mentioned above).

Nostalgic But Not Sturdy,

I was so happy to have purchased this for our first grandchild -- looking forward to years of pulling and playing -- just as I remember doing with my Radio Flyer Wagon! However, I was very disappointed with the material used. Instead of 2x4 wood strength as I expected, it is made with very thin side slats and the bottom wood is a vaneer that is already buckling in small areas. I can't imagine that the side slats will hold up for long with the wear-and-tear of little people climbing in and out! I'm willing to be proven wrong, but still disappointed that it is not the sturdy, heavy wood construction of yester-year! I will say that our grandson loves it, and, in his own little 16 month old way, begs to ride again and again.

This is a great wagon, but the red paint on the rails flakes off if the wagon is exposed to any weather, so you'd better weather-seal it if you buy it.

I can't say enough good things about this wagon, but I also wanted comment on finding the correct wagon pad that will fit it. The pad sold through this site does not fit. You need to find the pad made specifically for Radio Flyer model #29, which I easily located through other online merchants. It is worth the effort to get the pad as it seems to make the ride much more comfortable and makes the wagon a good napping locale too.

My daughter just turned 1. She got this as a present and loves it. It is a smooth ride on all types of terrain. We go to the park, the beach and around the block. There is plenty of room for all the extra stuff you want to take along. There is even enough room for a friend and their stuff too. I would recommend this wagon over the steel one to anyone. It is a quiet ride and there is no chance of rust since it is made of wood.

This wagon was a bit pricey, but I'm thinking of it as an investment in fun. It's big--two toddlers and their gear fit easily into the wood wagon-bed. It's safe--the removable side panels are sufficiently tall and stable for a child to lean on. And the big rubber tires allow you to travel off-sidewalk. A somewhat annoying axle squeak was easily remedied with a dab of grease.

My son received this as a Christmas gift and we have used it alot already. It has been to the zoo and on many walks with the dogs. The big wheels are great and a smooth ride. It's easy to pull, even loaded up and fitted just right in the back of the mini van. He loves it and I'm sure that it will be used for years to come.
