I noticed from the other reviews that the people were disappointed that you have to hit the car hard to make a noise. I guess if the noise was a major part of your buying decision this could be somewhat of a disappointment. I have three kids however and don't need any more noise in my house. For this reason I am glad it hardly ever makes noise. As far as ride ons go we have had quite a few and this one is the most favorite. My almost two, four and six year old all love to ride on this. I think the reason is two fold. One, the wheels swivel like they would on a better suitcase. This allows the child to go in any direction smoothly, unlike a regular car which has to be picked up/dragged to change direction. Two the way the wheel is placed does not interfere with the older kids knees. A common complaint when stealing the little guys other ride ons.
I like it because it doesn't seem to scratch my hard woods as much as the other cars which have larger wheels and have to be dragged/scooted/scraped to change direction. Also the rubber bumper helps when they smash into the walls or the refrigerator.
I am guessing if you live in a warmer climate without frost heaves and road sand you could probably ride it outside too. Here in the northeast it is pretty much an indoor or garage car.

I was a little hesitant given some of the negative reviews, but I'm so glade we decided to get it.

Yes, it is rather small, but since the wheels are completely under it there isn't any foot/legs hitting the wheels to worry about, which I like. Though it is small, it's perfect for her (her feet barely reach and she's about 29-30in tall) and I know even as she grows she'll still be able to play on it, her legs will just be more bent, but then again it's a scoot toy so I don't mind.

The 360 swivel makes it really easy for my daughter to use. This was for her 1 yr birthday so she isn't the most coordinated and being able to go any direction is perfect.

Some people said the noise is hard to get it to make, this I can't comment on. Since she has a lot of noise toys I just didn't put batteries in it, I didn't want it this toy for the "boink" noises it makes anyways. Also, there is a little squeaky horn thing for them to push in the middle which is good enough for me. If you're looking for the bump noise info see another review.

Given her age, she's not able to control the direction, the "bumper" works really well against our walls and leather sofa like it says it would.

The body of it is plastic, but it is a very nice quality so I'm pretty satisfied with that. I think it should easily be able to last with future siblings.

I also like the retro look of it.

Overall, I'm glad I didn't let the negative reviews stop me from this purchase because my daughter LOVES it, which makes me happy too!

Ahhh, finally a toy that does lead to an incredible level of frustration for my 20 month old. The cast-wheels make it so easy for him to manuever without have to get off the ride and redirect. Easy to back up too. We gave it to him Christmas morning and he has been on it almost non-stop.

I bought this for my daughters 2nd birthday, it is so cute! She loves riding all over the house on it...It's very stable, and she is a tall girl, so I opted for this model over the cheaper one-I had read somewhere that it flips over easy-this model is more sturdy. A friend has the cheaper model and my daughter loved it, but like I wrote, we went with this 'beefier' model!

Our 16 month old daughter absolutely loves her bumper car, she zips around the house on it. Took her a while to figure it out but now she knows how to race around on it. Agree with others who say getting it to make the sounds is pretty hard, wish it was easier to get the noises to happen. Overall, a fantastic, durable toy. Thumbs up.

My husband and I debated on whether to purchase a toy car or a rocking horse for our 1 year old son.
We put our son on a rocking horse in a store and he didn't really go for it. He just wanted off.
Then he saw a ride-on car. LOVED IT.

But we have wooden floors and we wanted a car that had wheels that actually turned so they wouldn't scuff the floor.

Then I found The Radio Flyer Classic Bumper Car!

AMAZING!

The wheels turn freely and they don't scuff or scratch our wooden floors.
The car doesn't do any damage if our son accidentally pushes it into a wall. BONUS.
This car makes silly sounds and the horn works! I also like that it has a loud and quiet setting or that I can just turn it off. :)

I love that this car LOOKS like a classic toy but is durable and safe to play with for modern children.

The only thing is that I think this car is made rather small. My son is now almost 15 months (size of an 18 month old) and I'm not sure how well he'll be able to ride it as he approaches 3 years of age (the car says for ages 1-3 years). So I think the car could be made bigger or have a feature where they can put their feet up when they are being pushed instead of walking themselves.

But overall, this toy is an AMAZING BUY! Especially if you can get it on sale (we got it for $50 just before Christmas). But this toy is still totally worth the full price anyway. I totally recommend it!

Oh yeah! AND it comes fully assembled! All I had to do was open the box and pull it out. THAT was even better. It was like the cherry on top of a ridiculously good sundae.
