5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent First Bike Choice
I had purchased the Radio Flyer All-Terrain Tricycle, but it was poorly constructed, and had to be returned. This bike was suggested as a replacement, and it is wonderful! My 4 year-old has no trouble stopping or steering (as he did trying another "big boy bike.") He loves to ride "super-time fast" and feels so proud of himself.

I strongly recommend this as a first...

This bike suffers from a variety of flaws. Firstly, it has no brakes. Secondly, it literally weighs more than my adult bike. If it falls on your kid, they are going to be hurt. 3 year olds, at the top end for 12 inch bikes will have trouble moving this bike. Thirdly, the tires are solid, not air filled. The ride is harsh and the tires don't grip like real rubber tires do,...

I strongly recommend this as a first time bike. The training wheels ride smoothly on the ground, providing as much security as a trike. The bell is fun, and the classic red looks can't be beat. The seat and handlebars are easily adjustable, and can accomodate a larger child (mine is 44 inches and growing...)

We helped my son save his money and helped him buy this bike nearly three years ago. The poor thing has been sorely abused and the original tires are nearly bald but the thing still is in good shape. I cannot think of another toy that has seen so much daily use. A great little bike!

I just finished a three-mile loop on a bike trail with my 3 1/2 year old. He was riding his 12" Radio Flyer Bicycle with training wheels and I either had to walk as fast as I could or jog to keep up with him. It's the first time I've exercised with him without having to push a stroller or tricycle and we both had a great time. The bike is beautifully geared, very easy for him to pedal and brake, and everyone comments on how great it looks...no cartoon character tie-in, no bad race car graphics. It was a little expensive when the shipping was factored in, but I'm glad we went for a good quality bike.

My son got this for Christmas and loved it, but after just 5 months of normal play from a 3 year-old, the spokes on the tires all began to fall out. We tried to get them back in, but had no luck. Soon, the spokes became entangled with the bike's chain and would cause the chain to fall off. I took this bike to my local bike repair shop and they could not fix the spokes. I have written the company and am awaiting a reply. I recently visited a toys-r-us store and I looked at this bike on display in the store, and it too had some loose spokes. I would not recommend this bike.

If it falls on your kid, they are going to be hurt. 3 year olds, at the top end for 12 inch bikes will have trouble moving this bike. Thirdly, the tires are solid, not air filled. The ride is harsh and the tires don't grip like real rubber tires do, so starting and stopping are more frustrating than they need to be. At this age a bike only needs to be safe and fun to ride. This bike is only fun to look at, not to ride.

Ipurchased this bike for my nephew's 3rd christmas. At first I thought he wouldn't be able to master it, but within minutes he ways flying down the sidewalk like a pro. When he returned home I had to ship it to him...his only conversation with me was"auntie where's my bike?"This was one toy he truely loved.

5.0 out of 5 stars A classic Radio Flyer..., May 15, 2006

I purchased this bike for my son's 4th birthday a little while back and he has loved it ever since. The bike is capable of moving really fast, making it very difficult at times to keep up with the little one at times. It is constructed really well, the design is classic and the materials are solid, probably better made then some adult bikes.

There is one important thing to consider though; the red paint on this bike (at least the one I received) still bleeds a little. So when putting the bike together, prepare to wipe down the bike with a rag to get any of the excessive red paint off before use.

It took a little while to figure out the right handle-bar height for the young one, as it is very adjustable to your child's size. I also like the fact that the training wheels are very sturdy and not likely to bend or come off easily during rough use. However, make sure that the pedals are tightened completed, as it can come off very easily if it's not.

The bike is very heavy for its size, so it's unlikely that a small child can have it tip over while they are on it, except if they are going extremely fast and are making ridiculously sharp turns.

Bought this for my 2.5 year old son. He's about average height for his age, maybe a bit more than average, and the bike just fits him (an inch shorter and he wouldn't reach the pedals). He absolutely loves the bike and spends hours on it. After less than an hour he was pedaling, braking and steering. Looks like there is good growing room for him with the adjustable seat post and handlebars, and that this will be his main toy for years to come!

He did tip over with the bike (on a slight slope), always wear a helmet! The bike is relatively heavy, so it's hard for him to lift it back up. But the weight does make it very sturdy. I saw some reviews that mention this, but I don't think this bike is more "dangerous" than other comparable products.

You will have to assemble it. It should take 30-60 minutes.

Can't talk about durability yet, but it looks like it's well built.

Overall, we feel it was a great purchase.

This is a solid, well made bike. Make sure to put the front fender on correctly, but very easy to install. My little boy loves it.
