My husband chose this one after our son kept begging him for a scooter. He loves this scooter. The wider wheels make it easy for him to use. We often walk the dog and he'll use his scooter on the sidewalk. Love the red color too. I would recommend this to anyone with a preschooler. Plus it goes up to age 8 and 80 lbs, I think. The next one down only went to 50 lbs and our son is already 40 lbs., so we wanted something that would last a few years. I only gave it 3 stars for educational value because I didn't buy it for that. 5 Stars for fun! Buy it, you won't regret it.

We purchased two of these scooters for our twin boys' 7th birthday. They have autism and needed a scooter that was wider since their coordination is not the best. As well it needed to withstand their weight and roughness. It has passed all our requirements with flying colors. In addition it also folds for easier storage. This has made learning to ride a scooter really easy for them. It has a rear brake on the back wheel instead of handle brakes which was a little challenge for children with motor skill coordination deficits.

I thought this 2 wheeled scooter would be a good alternative for a little brother, who badly wants to do what his big brother does on his big boy scooter. Don't be fooled by the picture. This scooter is large, heavy, unwieldly, and is very difficult to turn. It also looks like a "baby" scooter (according to my just-turned 4 yr old). A much better option for beginners is a lighter weight three-wheeled scooter (which is what my oldest son learned on). This may be fine for a 2 or maybe a young 3 yr old (though I question that because of the difficulty turning). But my 4 yr old hates it, and rides his older brother's old 3 wheeled scooter instead (which is falling apart). Santa should've investigated this one further before ordering it online.

I bought this for my son who will be 4 in a few months. I wish I would have bought it sooner because he loves it! It's his first scooter so he is still practicing balancing himself on it, but I noticed how helpful it is that the scooter has a wide area to place his foot on. I also had to adjust it to his height but it was nice to have that option. It was so easy to set up right out of the box. It looks really great too. I actually found it on sale for $40 at Toys R Us. It was a special in-store 2 day sale. I was hesitant at first to buy it because I thought he would end up getting frustrated or falling off it too much. Instead I witnessed the pride on his face when he was able to accomplish the ride at a steady pace in less than an hour! I made sure to explain to him that knee pads were necessary because it was expected for him to fall a couple of times on his first day using the scooter. Telling him this ahead of time seemed to make it more acceptable to him when he actually fell. Now he can't wait to take the scooter out again. This is a great toy that gets kids outside and moving! His confidence in his abilities has soared!

Pros:
* Wide wheels really do help with the stability. The unit can even stand/balance by itself. * My 2 year old (almost 3) can ride this fairly well, even using the brake a bit. I think this scooter is great for the younger ages of the rated 3-8 age group. Cons: * With the plastic wheels, brake, and platform, I question the durability. Some of the plastic is already starting to get scratched up after a day or two. Because of this, I'm knocking off a star. Other: * My unit looks a little different than the unit in the photos, but it only appears to be some color differences (like some of the black parts are red). * Overall I really like this scooter, with the main question being its long-term durability. UPDATE 2009-12-18: I am lowering the rating by a star because my son quickly lost interest in this scooter (he just turned three). I now think a small metal scooter would have been better for him... not that this scooter is bad, but it only held his interest for a short time, and he seems to prefer to ride a neighbor's kid's small metal (Razor) scooters. I think I should have gotten one of those... but your child may be different.

I bought this scooter to replace the completely useless Dora the Explorer Scooter that my daughter had. This one is sturdy. I love that it is a two wheeler, but with wide wheels to help stabilize it for a child new to scootering. I have friends with 3 wheel scooters, and they complain that they can be hard to turn. This is a great purchase. I highly recommend this scooter.

I bought the scooter for my 4-yr old grandson, and I think it's going to be a very appropriate toy for him, but the one that arrived was mis-assembled, so that the front wheel and handle bars were out of allignment by 10-15 degrees. Since it was only 10 days until Christmas, I was a bit concerned about the turnaround time for a replacement. I e-mailed Amazon customer service late Tuesday evening, asking how best to proceed. Wednesday afternoon, a new scooter arrived at my house, before I had even seen Amazon's e-mail response to my question! No charge, free return shipping, and 30 days to return the defective product. It's nice to see a big outfit like Amazon that actually understands the value of good customer service.

As I said, I did a lot of research looking for the best scooter for my son's age, size, and ability. He is four and half at the moment, 45 pounds, and not the most coordinated child. I did not want to get a three-wheeled one (but was looking into the mini-kick) because I wanted him to get used to a three wheel one as that is the next step. This one is so sturdy that it stands by itself, but it is not too stiff. It was so easy to set up right out of the box. He was riding it five minutes later. The Razor would probably be too fast for him, a beginner, and the mini kick is three wheeled, so he would move on to a two wheeled one soon anyway. GREAT BUY!

I am disappointed with this scooter. I should have bought the regular ones that are cheaper and works better. Just a trip to the park close by my house, and the front wheel trapped lots of debris and slowed down the scooter. I had to wash it with jet water every time we came back from the park.

This has been the best Christmas purchase for my 6 yr old daughter. Our main level is all wood floors so she had a great time racing indoors this winter with her elder sister who has one of the Razor two wheel aluminum scooters. My 6 yr old is comfortable balancing on two wheels because this scooter wheel has a wider base. She has let the scooter fall over on its side atleast 20 times and there has been no damage. I say that with fingers crossed since the toy is finally plastic so it might give in finally. But so far it is in good shape.
