You know, if I had read all the reviews before buying this bike, I never would have purchased it. But, having said that, this is one case where I'm glad that I relied on actual product testing rather than word of mouth.
We weren't even looking for a bike when my one year old spied this in Toys R Us one day. We thought it would be cute to push him around on it (he's too little to reach the pedals) and he just LOVED it! He was having so much fun that of course we had to buy it.
We live in a neighborhood where all the "big" kids have bikes. Now each night when I push my son around the block on his bike, he is so happy to be able to ride along with the other kids. and they like to push him around as well.
I've not had any problems that other reviews mentioned about the bike falling apart or the handle being shaky. It seems pretty well made to me. My husband is taller than I am so we are constantly adjusting the handlebar and it still seems to work well. I like that the steering column can be locked so that I can control where the bike goes. My son loves open and close the lid to the basket in back and likes to collect rocks as we ride down the street. He also likes to use the handle to push the bike himself.
If I could change one thing, I'd add a seat belt to keep him in the seat better, but other than that we're really happy with our purchase.
Again, we are not using this as a learning bike so we haven't had any problems with kids peddaling fast and tipping over or anything like that. We just like to stroll around the neighborhood collecting rocks in the basket! :)

My mom bought this for my son's 2nd birthday, and it has turned out to be a great gift. We haven't had any problems at all regarding quality or tipping. I especially love all the features - he can put his feet on the pedals and they stay still while I push him; the steeringwheel locks so I can push him; adjustable bar; and he loves the basket for his water bottle/sippy cup. I think this is a high-quality and brilliantly designed tricycle, that he can enjoy for a couple more years.

My son loves this multi-use trike!, August 21, 2005

I read alot of really bad reviews regarding this tricycle. I have to say that I can't agree with any of them. My son is only 13 months old and he is already on it. Of course he can't reach the pedals as this trike is really meant for an older toddler. But I have to say, he loves to push it with the back handle, which is helping him practice walking. The handle can go up to an adult level or down to toddler size. He also enjoys sitting on it while we all push him. There is a locking mechanism on the front handle bar that keeps my young toddler from turning the wheel himself. I found this helpful as he has not learned to steer yet. I unlock it only to guide the bike so he understands the concept of turning it. I don't know why others have had such a problem with the pedals regarding the difficulty their toddlers have pushing. It seems as though this bike does weigh a bit more than other toddler bikes as I have two smaller versions as well. I think if you unscrew the extra handle in the back as it is a big piece it should glide more smoothly for you young riders. Also I don't think this bike was built for small or delicate children. My son is small but a brute and is already excited about this bike. Also, he likes the basket in the back because he is in the stage where he loves taking things out and putting them in. Overall, it's a great bike, but may not be suitable for all toddlers.
