You know, if I had read all the reviews before buying this bike, I never would have purchased it. But, having said that, this is one case where I'm glad that I relied on actual product testing rather than word of mouth.
We weren't even looking for a bike when my one year old spied this in Toys R Us one day. We thought it would be cute to push him around on it (he's too little to reach the pedals) and he just LOVED it! He was having so much fun that of course we had to buy it. We live in a neighborhood where all the "big" kids have bikes. Now each night when I push my son around the block on his bike, he is so happy to be able to ride along with the other kids. and they like to push him around as well. I've not had any problems that other reviews mentioned about the bike falling apart or the handle being shaky. It seems pretty well made to me. My husband is taller than I am so we are constantly adjusting the handlebar and it still seems to work well. I like that the steering column can be locked so that I can control where the bike goes. My son loves open and close the lid to the basket in back and likes to collect rocks as we ride down the street. He also likes to use the handle to push the bike himself. If I could change one thing, I'd add a seat belt to keep him in the seat better, but other than that we're really happy with our purchase. Again, we are not using this as a learning bike so we haven't had any problems with kids peddaling fast and tipping over or anything like that. We just like to stroll around the neighborhood collecting rocks in the basket! :)

My mom bought this for my son's 2nd birthday, and it has turned out to be a great gift. We haven't had any problems at all regarding quality or tipping. I especially love all the features - he can put his feet on the pedals and they stay still while I push him; the steeringwheel locks so I can push him; adjustable bar; and he loves the basket for his water bottle/sippy cup. I think this is a high-quality and brilliantly designed tricycle, that he can enjoy for a couple more years.

I read alot of really bad reviews regarding this tricycle. I have to say that I can't agree with any of them. My son is only 13 months old and he is already on it. Of course he can't reach the pedals as this trike is really meant for an older toddler. But I have to say, he loves to push it with the back handle, which is helping him practice walking. The handle can go up to an adult level or down to toddler size. He also enjoys sitting on it while we all push him. There is a locking mechanism on the front handle bar that keeps my young toddler from turning the wheel himself. I found this helpful as he has not learned to steer yet. I unlock it only to guide the bike so he understands the concept of turning it. I don't know why others have had such a problem with the pedals regarding the difficulty their toddlers have pushing. It seems as though this bike does weigh a bit more than other toddler bikes as I have two smaller versions as well. I think if you unscrew the extra handle in the back as it is a big piece it should glide more smoothly for you young riders. Also I don't think this bike was built for small or delicate children. My son is small but a brute and is already excited about this bike. Also, he likes the basket in the back because he is in the stage where he loves taking things out and putting them in. Overall, it's a great bike, but may not be suitable for all toddlers.

My sone LOVES this trike, but has not been able to use it much due to the fact that it keeps breaking. The first one I got had a broken steering wheel lock - it kept slipping into lock position and my son couldn't turn the wheel anymore! So I called Radio Flyer and they graciously sent out a new one(I did not have to provide proof of purchase or anything). On the new one, the parent handle would not lock into place. So I called again and they sent out a new parent handle. I replaced it and everything seemed to work fine until we went up or down a slight incline in which case the handle would come unlocked again. I called Radio Flyer AGAIN. At this point, they are sending a new one which Quality Control is supposed to look over first, and they want the old one back to take a look at it. I really do like this trike, but the quality is not great. If you purchase it and have problems, DEFINITELY call Radio Flyer to get one that works correctly. Don't even bother to return it to the store. Radio Flyer will send parts or replacements free of charge and you don't have to hassle with going back to the store.

I had been planning on purchasing the Kettler Navigator for my son's second birthday when a grandparent surprised us with this Radio Flyer trike. I was happy enough. I know Radio Flyer is a good name & I am very happy with our Radio Flyer wagon. However, this trike DOES NOT live up to it's name. The pushbar mechanism is AWFUL. It doesn't steer AT ALL. It ONLY pushes. So, any time we have to shift or turn in the least bit, it is a big production of unlocking the front wheel or physically lifting the front of the bike. I have tried very hard to like this bike. I love the concept. But, I always end up leaning over the bike & using the handlebars myself to steer it properly. I would be somewhat satisfied if I could just remove the pushbar & my son could use it as a plain trike. BUT, there is no brake!!! If you back pedal it's a free spin. There is no braking action!! NOT ideal for learning to ride a bike. I shouldn't have given it as many chances as I did. I wish I could return it.

Perfect for the larger toddler,

We got this bike for my 2 1/2 year old and it's great. He can peddle himself and learn to steer, or I can push him and make the handles stay straight. The handle that pushed from behind is tall enough for an adult, yet if my son wants to push, it goes down to his size. I like the size of this XL, the regular fold 2 go seemed too small for my growing boy. The best part is if he doesn't want to peddle, the peddles don't move, so if you're pushing him, his feet don't have to go unless he wants to peddle. Overall, a great bike for a learning toddler.

I purchased this bike for my son's second birthday. He was only about 30" tall and couldn't really reach the pedals. We've had to store it for the past 4 months, and it fits neatly into our closet along side our vacuum cleaner. We brought it out again last night and he loved it. He still doesn't really know how to pedal, but after our 1-mile walk, he was steering like a pro. He was able to rest his feet on the pedals without me being worried that his knees would get hurt on spinning pedals. The parents push handle isn't that sturdy and doesn't allow for navigation, but for the price I am very pleased.

Radio Flyer seriously messed up when they designed this trike. Part of the concept is great... it folds up! The second part of the concept is the telescoping handle that does not steer, is kinda jiggly to start with, and isn't wide enough for you to really steer your kid with. The problem lies in the design. You can't have the ability to co-pilot like the other radio flyer trikes because it folds up. That disconnects the handle in rear from the front wheel, which is what steers. It jiggles around because it telescopes out, meaning all those little spaces in between where one segment fits into the next equals a lot of room by the time you pull it out all the way. Being that you can't easily steer (you have to pick up the back or lift the front to turn if you have the steering locked), you have to push to back and forth to keep it going straight. THis is hard to do with the small handle they put on this thing. Save your money and get one of their other ones, which all have great reviews.

Don't read reviews on the wrong bike,

We haven't chosen a bike yet, but after reading these reviews we decided to try to try a few out in person. Some of these reviewers are reviewed the fold-to-go trike w/o the parent's bar, which is smaller and much less stable. This one is more stable because the wheels are larger and it seems to have a lower center of gravity than the regular (not XL) fold to go trike w/o the parent's push bar.
We probably won't get this one though b/c it doesn't have brakes, a seatbelt, or a parent's bar that steers.

I did quite a bit of research trying to find a folding trike that was affordable and could easily fit into our hatchback and decided upon this model. Though I was impressed with two features that occur when the parent is pushing the trike, the "straight steering" ability and the ability to disengage the pedals so the toddler can rest their feet on the wheels, I found the push bar wobbly and one of the back wheels looked like it was about to fall off. We returned the product and ordered a different trike that cost about twice as much and unfortunately was not folding, nor did it have the two features that I liked the best on this trike.
