Our little boy picked this out at TRU. He had to have it, and we gave in since it was the first thing he had ever really picked out on his own. He enjoyed it in the beginning, but, now that he is 22 months old, he loves it. He is constantly scooting it around the house and driveway. As of yet, we have not had any problems with the horn as others have mentioned. We also did not have any problems with him being able to straddle it. He has played on it since before he was a year and still does at 22 months. I would recommend.

This toy is more of a nostalgic collector's piece. It is heavy & unmaneuverable. It'll go straight but doesn't really turn. Keep it indoors or the bright shiny surface will quickly become dull and faded. I guess the best part is the little squeeker horn. Still ... the boys (now 18 & 20 mos) sit on it all the time and have learned to make it go with their feet on the patio outside. Most of the time they sit on it and push the button (horn) to make it toot! If I had to do it over again - I wouldn't buy this toy!

My daughter likes to ride on this car and beep the horn, but we only use it inside. I tried taking her outside on it once, but it is so unmaneuverable that I gave up. Radio Flyer seems to be good at wagons, not so good with other wheeled toys (a friend has a Radio Flyer tricycle that is top heavy and tips over constantly.)

I bought the Red Roadster for my first son for Christmas when he was 15 months. He is now 3 1/2 and has never really used it other than as a seat to sit on while waiting his turn on one of our many other ride-on toys when friends and cousins are over to play. Our younger son just turned one and also has no interest in it other to stand next to it and honk the horn. Both boys love to ride on various Little Tike, Step 2, and Fischer Price Trikes and Ride-on toys that they and their friends own. This toy was my first choice because of its nostalgic look and was more "mature" looking ( no primary colored plastic parts) but I have really changed my opinion on what is the best value for the dollar. The metal body is heavy and hard to manuever. It is hard to steer and the rear wheels ride up on my son's heels when he tries to push with his feet. And the hard wheels and weight of the body makes even a grown man yelp in pain when it runs over a toe. It also causes more damage to walls, parked cars, peoples shins etc. when toddlers try to manuever too closley. Lightweight plastic toys are much more user friendly for this age group ( even if they are not as trendy)

Grandson #1 heads right for this car on every visit. Grandson #2 (who lives farther away) will be getting his own this year. Good toy for starter training any saddle riding sport (trikes, bikes, horses). Won't tip over. The limited steering radius makes this suited as an indoor toy.

My son was 2 when we purchased this for him for Christmas. He loves it, but the horn came off. There was no way to reattach it. I recently visited the Radio Flyer website. The had recalled this part of the car and are sending out repair kits all I had to do was fill out a form to get the replacement part. This part was considered a choking hazard. So they issued a recall. Which I was never informed of, and I do beleive I sent out the registration on this.Anyway my daughter is 2 now and she now rides it and loves it the same.

The horn falling off was the least of it. This toy is too wide for most toddlers. Their little legs can't reach the ground to push the toy. The steering is very difficult as well. Lots of frustrated tots. When we first recieved this car, I spent the play time bent over, pushing the toy for my children and their playmates. Eventually, we put the car away until oldest turned three years and his legs were long enough to straddle and push. But now my daughter (20 mo.s) is frustrated because she can't manuever it. We love the quality and looks of Radio Flyer products. Unfortunately, this one flopped.

Generally solid construction, lots of leg room, but very limited turning.
I got this car for my 18 month old son who loves scooting around. Unfortunately after assembly he has to tip toe which means he can't quite push himself along. I suspect he will enjoy it more as he gets older. He loves the horn though. I would also say this is more for the outside than inside. The main reason being the very limited steering. With the steering on hard lock, it still takes about 4x4 meters to turn a corner. Impossible to do a 3 point turn when in a corridor. The rubber tires should mean it will weather well outside. On arrival this does require some assembly which will take no more than 15 mins or so. You will need a spanner (to tighten a couple of bolts), screwdriver (to screw the steering wheel onto the steering column) and a hammer (to bang on the wheel locks keeping the wheels in place). The parts fit together easily and firmly. The only concern I have is the way the wheels are kept with the pressure capped wheel locks. It feels like it could easily pop up when going to fast or going round corners too hard, which would then mean the wheels falling off. I would have expected some sort of wheel nut or something which is more secure. The overall design and materials used are good, with the solid metal molded body (feels like it can take quite a beating before it will actually dent), steel steering column and axles, and metal wheels with real rubber tires. There are a few things that let it down. The steering wheel and column cover is plastic and makes it feel cheap relative to the rest of the car They could have at least fully molded the steering wheel instead of having it half rounded with a hollow back. If you can find this at a good price then overall it is pretty good value for money compared to some of those other cheap plastic ride-ons. I can see my son getting reasonable use out of this over the years to come.

I bought this for my 15 month old son. He loves it, the minute he saw it his eyes just opened wide. This product is very sturdy; my son is a big boy for his age (30lb). This is a well made product. The car has not flip over (even though my son has tried to) he is learning how to straddle it which is funny to see. The wheels are made of rubber which is very quiet in the house (is very hard to find a good quite toy). I really haven't had a problem outdoors since my driveway is flat. I would recommended

My daughter got this toy for Christmas 2005. She loves it! She is 11 months old and enjoys having people push her around on it. She is just starting to realize that she can push herself along with her feet. My only complaint is that it requires a lot of space for turning because the steering wheel will not accommodate tight turns. So it cannot be manuvered around a coffee table without picking it up and moving it. However, I can't wait to turn her loose next summer in the yard where she has a lot of open space!
