The best solo effort by Roger Waters,

Not only the best solo effort as in hits, style, production and lyrical content but quality of a Japanese produced compact disc!It seems that North American music industry is lame when it comes to mass production of music such as this one. I have owned the original for years since it came out and definitely notice the quality difference between Japanese and North American. Although it seems Roger has such a eclectic musical artistic taste this CD/album is the most "listenable" and easy to grasp. I believe this is a must for all Roger Water fans as well as Pink Floyd fans alike.

Roger's finest solo album gets a sonic upgrade from "the powers that be"....,

I have really liked this album ever since it was first released. Even though this album is quickly dismissed by many Pink Floyd fans (and probably Roger himself), I think this was a very nice change from the quieter, sadder albums that Roger had done toward the end of Pink Floyd and at the beginning of his solo career. It seemed like Roger was really trying to be more accessible to his fans at this point, and I for one enjoyed it. A couple of the songs do sound a bit dated after all these years (as many of Roger's topical songs tend to do), but overall this album has held up pretty well (in my opinion). My favorite tunes from the album are "The Powers That Be" (featuring Paul Carrack), and "Home", but all of the tunes are very good. The IMPORT remastered version is a welcome change to the original Columbia Records CD from the 80's, and the new version sounds great! If you are a fan of Roger Waters, and/or Pink Floyd, I think you will like this album if you give it a chance. But make sure you buy the IMPORT/REMASTERED version, the sound is much better!

Waters' 80's techno folly, but a great story and message. Everybody's got someone they call home...
