Radioactive Transformations contains the subject matter of the eleven lectures Ernest Rutherford (1871-1937) delivered under the Silliman Foundation at Yale University in March, 1905. These lectures detailed the results of his experiments on the spontaneous degradation of radioactive substances. Following his first book, Radio-Activity, Radioactive Transformations was yet another seminal work on radioactive materials by this brilliant, energetic scientist who laid the foundations for modern nuclear chemistry and physics. Indeed, the work was so valuable that in 1908 Rutherford was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his research on the disintegration of elements and the chemistry of radioactive substances. This book is a photo-reproduction of the original 1906 edition. It contains all of Rutherford's original text, charts,and diagrams.

An affordable reprinting of the early work of one of the greatest scientists of the 20th century. The incredible talent of Rutherford for designing simple experiments that yielded monumental data - and his insightful interpretations of these for nature - come shining through. There is no better way to celebrate the centenary of his Noble Prize in 1908, than to have a read.
