Skank's greatest hits so far..., August 9, 2005
This review is from: Radiola (Audio CD)
Effectively Radiola is an album of successos. If you have any previous Skank albums you may want to avoid this; with time there will probably be a more definitive hits collection. Some songs that should be here are suspiciously absent ("Garota Nacional" for example). There are three new songs "Um Mais Um," "Vamos Fugir," and a cover of Bob Dylan's "I Want You." The first two are great singles, still in the same sonic vein as Skank took for the 2003's Cosmotron, and both have hit number one in Brasil. As for the third, singer Samuel Rosa imitates Dylan's voice as he sings in English and the result is not pretty; of the tweleve songs this is the only bust. Skank's first hit, "Tanto," was a translation of "I Want You". Unfortunately they've opted to record this new version, instead of giving us the song that has become one of their most popular and beloved. If you want bang for your buck you won't get it here. Their MTV Ao Vivo album from 2002 showcases more hits than you can get on Radiola and they have more fun doing it. Let's all just have patience and hold out for a comprehensive Skank collection in the future.
