4.0 out of 5 stars Useful reference book
A very comprehensive radiology textbook, however, it is in outline format and mainly useful as an adjunct to other books. Make sure you have read a book on the subject before you go to this book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Better resource for the Radiology Written boards than Orals, April 6, 2004

In the midst of my studying for the Orals, I have discovered that I use this book much less for the Orals than the I did for the writtens. Rarely some of the information is not up to date or wrong. The differentials are not weighted. For example In case conference, if you get a "double bubble" differential just start off with Ladd's Bands as your leading differential ( from the LADS mnemonic). Your Pedi examiner will shoot you down in flames. I am using Wittenberg's Primer much more than Danhert. Danhert's new edition is an improvement, but it is a limited resource.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very Disappointed, December 30, 2001
By
Rebecca Harris (Hamilton New Zealand) - See all my reviews
I had so looked forward to getting this CD ROM. It was of a book I had used a lot and found very useful. The CD ROM version really let me down badly. Firstly, I couldn't install it despite fulfilling all the system requirements. I emailed the help desk only to be told as the program was made in 1997, windows 98 or above could not be guaranteed to be error free!! I had to download a plugin I already had (but the disk didn't recognise) for it still not to work. Finally, I got up in the middle of the night to ring the USA (from New Zealand) to be told that you needed to run it through Netscape Communicator. The netscape version that came free on the CD ROM didn't work either - I had to use the newer version I already had on my PC. When it was finally working I was very disappointed by the layout. It was messy, hard to read and not at all up to the high standard of the book itself. Perhaps this was a windows millenium problem, I'm not sure. Still, overall very frustrating, very disappointing. My advice would be to avoid this CD ROM until a much better version is created - the version this fine book deserves.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dahnert Radiology Review Manual, April 1, 2003
I believe that Dahnert's Radiology Review Manual has been recalled by the publisher due to multiple errors within the text.

1.0 out of 5 stars Kindle edition useless, December 31, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
As a radiologist who works in 4 different locations, I have been trying to build a digital reference library that is portable and/or web accessible and easily searchable. I was disappointed that the Kindle edition is lacking in any linked table of contents or index. This makes the ebook essentially useless as a quick reference (the best use of a phone book like compilation of lists and bullets that this "review" manual really is). I wish they would put in the effort to update the kindle version and provide it free to anyone who has already purchased this brick.

3.0 out of 5 stars Kindle version needs improvements, September 13, 2011

I'm a radiology resident and I love dahnert, but the kindle version needs some work.

i'm pretty committed to using the kindle app on my ipad for my radiology texts, so seeing books like this on the kindle store is huge.

however, a book like this DESPERATELY needs page numbers and a HYPERLINKED INDEX where the page numbers in the index are selectable and take you right to the topic. searching for keywords is a chore and slow with the built-in search function. The best textbook i've seen so far in the kindle store is the neuroradiology requisites which has all of the above features and is much more usable.

Thank you for making ebooks a reality for textbooks, please continue to improve!

4.0 out of 5 stars Review for Radiology Residents and Practitioners Alike, June 20, 2000
By A Customer
This is the CD-ROM version of the very successful review manual by Dahnert. The chapters are nicely organized and there is easy access to the list of differential diagnoses for every major finding in all body systems. There is an extensive use of mnemonics and imaging "pearls" (i.e., from textbooks, journals, and syllabi from various CME courses) which may prove very helpful in retaining the long lists for the boards. Most disease entities are included. The CD-ROM version makes finding topics and details much easier and you don't have to carry the heavy book around. Of course the downside is that you need a computer with an eye-friendly monitor. Overall a great resource.

5.0 out of 5 stars Golden if on XP profesional; Hopeless on newer operating systems, September 8, 2011
I am a practicing Radiologist who has been addicted to Danhert's condensation of my board review for decades. It has been the best and most frequently accessed reference I have used over the past 15 to twenty years. However, it has not been updated either in content or its ability to run on newer (anything after XP Pro) operating systems. I have a new Windows 7 Professional laptop. Even using the Virtual PC XP mode it will not load the needed version of Communicator. I have since abandoned it for other unanimated versions I found online. I intend to review the Kindle version but that will mean carring another piece of electronics in my bag. I hope that the creators of the Danhert series will soon realize what a large following the electronic version has, and produce a new CD-rom that will run on windows 7.
