3.0 out of 5 stars plot break down, April 25, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Raffle [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Before I start I would like to point out the budget for this film, it was $2million and it shows. But don't give up on it, it has an exellent performance by lead man Nicholas Lea of X-Files fame and Bobby Dawson & Mark Hamill don't do bad either. It has a very original script were two friends (Lea & Dawson) devise a plan to raffle a grand prize of a date with the most beutiful woman in the world, after a long hard search they find a "beutiful woman" but have trouble getting the world to accept the conclusion that she is the most beutiful woman they finaly reach the big day of the raffle and all goes wrong. I dont want to spoil the ending for you so get this film and see for yourself.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Raffle - Like a good dessert: Light, Warm and Sweet, February 23, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Raffle [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Despite it's sexist-sounding premise, this movie is warm and often tender. The characters are endearing and the humor is gentle and good-hearted. Yes, there are a couple of long montages of T&A, but they are pretty harmless, and it's easy to fast forward through them (if like me, you find them boring.)People who like T&A shows will probably enjoy them.
In any case, with or without the montages, this is a light romantic comedy with a happy ending and a few good plot twists to keep you interested along the way. What could be better?

3.0 out of 5 stars A must see for Nick Lea fans!, February 17, 1999
This review is from: Raffle [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I am a huge fan of Nick Lea so, even though this film is formulaic and silly, it's worth watching just for Nick. He's very good and *so* adorable! He shows a real talent for comedy and it was nice to see the lighter side of his incredible acting ability. I must admit that if Nick weren't in it, I would not buy it, but if you're a Nicknik, it'll be a great addition to your collection :)

3.0 out of 5 stars The Raffle, November 22, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Raffle [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This movie would have been 4 stars, except for the song, "Over You, " by Timmy-T. The inclusion of this song in the soundtrack really degraded the credibility of the movie as a whole. The song was so annoying that I almost couldn't watch the movie, which was great of course. Mark Hamill, Nick Lea, everyone and everything was fantastic, except for that song. Man. Maybe they could re-release it with some instrumental synthesiser music instead. Other than that, It was worth the rental. Three Stars!(Almost 4!)
