2.0 out of 5 stars Too dizzy for me!, January 13, 2006

This genre seems to be having some very serious problems with writers coming out with quality work. This book attests to that. It has some amusing parts - which is all that saved it from going directly to the donations box!

A lady, Miss Theresa "Tessie" Hampstead, is trying to find out what happened to her inheritance. She starts out for London with a not-so-good guy. He dumps her when she won't play "slap and tickle". She goes to an inn, where of course, they won't let her stay. Hmmm, Regency era lady with no maid and no luggage (but does have a trusty dueling pistol with which she is a "crack-shot"). So of course, in steps the wealthy Lord Nicholas Cathgar who vouches for her - after she has announced to the innkeeper, his wife, and everyone in the common room that she does have a good bit of money and can 'pay her shot'.

Lord Nicholas is at the inn because he is a government spy who is in this town to attend a meeting of Luddites so he can protect King and Country... Are you dizzy yet? I was! And I am not too sure, but think we are still in Chapter Two at this point!

She does find her inheritance and if you thought the above part made you dizzy - read on (take motion sickness medicine first).

2.0 out of 5 stars Too many italics, February 6, 2011

This review is from: A Rag-Mannered Rogue (Zebra Regency Romance) (Paperback)
I did not get very far with this book, partly was because there were simply too many italics to disrupt and distract the flow of the reading. Italic, by definition, is used for emphasis, or to separate different kinds of information in a manuscript; but apparently Ms. Solomon had this fondness, or perhaps the urgent need to mass producing these emphasis that effect turned out to be the opposite. I have counted: Page 1--5 italics, Page 2--3 italics, Page 3--4 italics...there were italics in just about every page...Besides, this was just not an interesting read. Since I quit reading early, I'm not sure that I could honestly rate this book, but I'll just follow suit with the other reviewer.
