The best of its kind.,
This review is from: Rag Rug Handbook (Spiral-bound)
The Rag Rug Handbook is a must for any rug weaver. Beginner rug weavers and experienced will find this book useful and interesting. The listing of looms in the back gives a short history of each loom and the illustrations are most useful for identification or assembly (if your loom happens to be in pieces). Pictured in color are beautiful rugs using different weaving techniques with very complete instructions. Having trouble with your rugs - this is the book that will give you answers. Donna

The One Book A Weaver Should Own,
By Tina Parrish (Quincy, IL USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Rag Rug Handbook (Paperback)
I am definitely a novice weaver. This book spells everything out very clearly, from A to Z. Plus, short history of many of the manufacturers. The patterns included will take you from simple to challenging. I have other weaving books, but this one is the one I refer to the most. If you only buy one rag rug handbook, I recommend Janet Meany and Paula Pfaff's book.

Rag Rug Handbook: Revised Edition by Janet Meany et al,
By Jeanne Reeves-Lau (Canton, MI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Rag Rug Handbook (Paperback)
This book is an ABSOLUTE MUST for a rag rug weaver. It is the best book I've found yet that describes not only the art of weaving rag rugs but also tries to give an historical account of looms that were made. I used this book as a reference when I bought an used loom. Since the labeling was missing on the loom, the previous owner could not identify what kind of loom she was selling. I was able to not only identify the loom, but I knew from this book that the type of loom I bought was appropriate for rag rug weaving. If you want to learn rag rug weaving, this is the book to get!

Rag Rug Handbook,

I love this book because it's hard to remember all the steps to weaving when it takes so long to accomplish any project, and this book has all the stuff I need. It's a resource for my "library" for frequent reference.

This book was great for us as beginner weavers. A loom was given to us - all in pieces. By remembering his grandmother's loom and with the pictures in this book, my husband assembled the loom and is now weaving his second rug. This book has lots of information and pictures and is an excellent guide for us "beginner weavers".

Rag Rug Handbook,

This review is from: The Rag Rug Handbook (Paperback)
Good book for beginner -- focussing on techniques peculiar to rag rugs. all the set up & process illustrations are hand drawn rather than photgraphs -- mostly in black and white. The photographs of projects are mostly in black and white, a few color. Not very exciting visually, BUT excellent, easy to understand and follow directions for process and pattern reading. Projects seem to go from beginner to elaborate. I am glad I bought it.

This is an excellant book value. There are multiple projects to weave into finished rugs with clear instructions. It was recommended to me by a weaving instructor before her class and I'm so glad I have it in my library.
