The bookie eventually hires him to deliver a package by steamship, and it is on this voyage that he meets Raga Six, a vampire who has been undead for hundreds of years. He falls in love with her, tries to protect her from evil forces, and hones his psychic powers. After discerning her real identity and witnessing the destruction she causes, he sets out to defeat her magically.

About the Author

Frank Lauria was born in Brooklyn, New York and graduated from Manhattan College. He has published seventeen novels, including five bestsellers and the novelizations of Dark City, End of Days, Mask of Zorro, Alaska, and Girlfight. He has written articles and reviews for various magazines and is a published poet and songwriter. He lives in San Francisco where he teaches creative writing.

The first and last time that I read this book before I was in the 8th grade. It was great then but I see things now that I must not have seen then. A lot of the in-depth details about Dr. Orient's routines seem labored and contrived.

An editor would have been nice, too. There are many times that the wrong word was used but it was spelled correctly and started with the same letter.
