Michael or Adam? Hmmm...,
By

This review is from: Rage of Angels (Audio Cassette)
Sidney Sheldon's Rage of Angels tells the story of beautiful Jennifer Parker, a rising young New York attorney who becomes involved with two very different men - Michael Morreti is a ruthless killer and Adam Warner is being groomed for the Presidency. We follow Jennifer for many years as she becomes a mother as well as a lawyer for the mafia, all the while finding true love is just beyond her reach.Sheldon knows how to write breezy page-turners, and Rage of Angels is no exception. His characters are absorbing and the action never stops. Susannah York was not a good choice to read this story, however. Her upper class British accent sounded silly when she did the voices of low-life street hoodlums, and she read so quickly, I often had to rewind the tape and listen again. I gave the story 5 stars and the audio cassette version 3 stars. Kona

What a story!,
By Katie Amos (Columbia, IL United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Rage of Angels (Mass Market Paperback)
Always looking for a new author I can get behind, I took the advise of many friends and read this book. WOW! Normally I am a "Romantic, man & woman meet fall in love have a problem get back together" sort of story-lover. This is more like a rollercoaster ride of life. For fear of giving anything away if you read the book but wanting anyone who will listen to read this and be inspired to read this book: Sheldon gives you fantastic character developement. You have a heroine who you can't help but want to cheer on, a supporting hero who you want to like but for the fact that he's married, and a lead hero who you want to hate but just can't because he's to dangerously enchanting. The book is about a lady lawyer and the trials (no pun intended) of her life. During the coarse of the story I kept thinking how is Sheldon going to fix "all this" by the end of the book, and the answer is simple: This is not a story where everything gets fixed. When I first read the back of the book the last line was " they find a love that is more destructive than hate". At first my interpretation was that it was a love that could destruct hate, but now after reading the book the hard part to handle was it meant the love itself was more destructive to the characters than hate was. There are a million love stories that are "Happy ever after", I've read hundreds of them, this is love with some twists and turns, but every bit as fantastic. This book is very worth reading and grips you right from the start. Sheldon has a way with words that allows you to become part of the story. I hope that you give it a go. I look forward to reading more Sheldon novels! : )

The Usual Sidney,
By "zombie00001" (Baton Rouge, Louisiana USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Rage of Angels (Mass Market Paperback)
The books starts off well with the Sidney's usual - Woman who has nothing to woman has all the power. He uses this story line too much in different contexts and just changing the scenario sometimes doesnt cut it. The character is seriously flawed in that she is Ms Perfect record who can do it all. She is a plainly selfish person but Sidney tries to cover all this up by the emotional and sentimental attachments with the other characters in the book. She sides and helps the Mafia only because of what they will do to her son and not giving a thought to all the lives she is putting at stake by acquitting all sorts of criminals. She is in love with a soon to be president- politician, whom one of the mafia cant identify when he comes in contact with him. Come on! How dumb and un-informed are the mafia? Then there is the fact that no one knows about about her son. Not the Mafia, not the politician who "has been looking everywhere for her" and not the press who are following her every case. The press for Gods sake, the bloodhounds of our species! There are lots of other questions raised that I will not discuss but I still dont see how this book and especially the character can be liked by so many. Only die hard fans and those who have never encountered any of Sidney Sheldons women should read this book.
