“Weis and Hickman again demonstrate their talent for world-building and for creating likable yet flawed heroes. This Norse-flavored series opener should have a large following.” ―Library Journal on Bones of the Dragon

“Weis and Hickman have created a believably human story out of their mix of saga and sorcery.” ―Publishers Weekly on Bones of the Dragon

Rage of the Dragon by Weis and Hickman is the third book in the Dragonships of Vindras series. Skylan Ivorson and his clan members have fled from Sinaria with their dragonship, Kahg. Chasing after them in his own dragonship is Raegar, priest of the New Gods, and the ships of the ogres, returning home after being defeated. Skylan's crew is too few in numbers to survive any attack by either, and it's questionable whether Kahg would fight Fala, Raegar's dragon. Things quickly go downhill from there as an attack by a giant squid leaves Skylan and company in the prisons of the Aquin, deep below the sea. Politics and treachery lead to further dangers and Skylan must find a way to save himself and his people.

This was yet another excellent story by Weis and Hickman, full of rich world building and surprises. The stories tend to remind me of the Grandfather's line from The Princess Bride movie while describing the book, "fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, giants, monsters, chases, escapes, true love, miricles." Their heroes are always very human, experiencing both victories and defeats, and Skylan Ivorson is no exception. In this third book in the series, he has finally accepted the mistakes he has made in the past and comes out stronger for it.

If you're looking for a good fantasy adventure, it's hard to go wrong with anything written by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman.

Once again, Weis and Hickman deliver with a riveting fantasy adventure series! If you're looking for a page-turner, you won't be disappointed.

Skylan annoyed the daylights out of me at first, but after everything he's been through over the course of the series, he's definitely redeemed himself. (Quite dramatically, in fact, by the end of book, but I won't give anything else away :p) The strongest pull of this series has to be the superb characterisation. The good guys and the bad guys aren't flat and one-dimensional...everyone is flawed, troubled, and determined to do what they think is right. Out of an outstanding cast of characters, Wulfe, the Fae princeling, has to be my favourite character.

On another note, I won't look at fish knives the same way again!

Rage of the Dragon is the third book in a six-book series. Having gained his freedom, Skylan Ivorson and his crew are off to find the next four Vektia spiritbones. But, with this war of the gods raging across the world, everything is being thrown into the air. Old enemies have now become allies, and old allies have now become deadly enemies. And to make matters worse, the meddling of the gods has raised the stakes of the game to a whole new level.

Overall, I found this a pretty darn good book. As with the other books of the series, I like the interesting milieu, and the characters. I like the level of magic, and the many interesting creatures that the world contains.

Admittedly, at times the story does drag a little, and you find yourself wishing that the authors would just get on with it. But, the action eventually does pick back up, and everything adds up to a pretty darn good fantasy story.

So, if you like high fantasy, with great magic and world-wide stakes, then you will like this book. I certainly did!

Dragonships of Vindras started a little slow but I love what the dynamic duo of Weis & Hickman did with Skylan Ivorson and his friends over the series. I have been of huge fan of the authors and have read all of their trilogies. While this one is not at the level of classic Dragonlance and Death Gate Cycle, it is superior to Dragonlance War of Souls and definitely Darksword which is their worst in my opinion. This world and the 3 different pantheons presented are very colorful and interesting. I am eager to read the conclusion of this series in less than 2 years. In all an excellent third volume in an excellent series.

There are way too many inconsistencies in this book. They never threw Arconis off the boat. Skylan never had the torque when he became chief the ogres already had it. That is major facts to mess up. There are many more that's just two of the major ones. I usually love there books but I was disappointed

I have been reading the books by Margaret Weis and Tracey Hickman for more years than I would like to admit.
Whilst I enjoyed this book, I felt it was not as good as the previous sagas. Having said that, I would always read
these novels, regardless.

The adventure continues. In this installment, the second portion is from the point of view of Treia and Ragaer, which gave the book an Ice and Fire feel. This time, Skylan and co. must venture into an undersea realm, inhabited, not by mermaids, but amphibious humans. I've really enjoyed this series, and I hope their is more in the future. It seems uncertain, for I have read that the next book is coming out in January 2016, but then I saw on another site that the series has been canceled. I hope not, because I've been pulled in.

I have read the first two and could hardly put them down, now that I got this one I couldn't put it down either. I would suggest it to anyone that loves fantasy. you will find action, romance, humor, and more in this series. the authors know how top weave a brilliant tale of intrigue.
