I know, I know it is stupid to judge a game before playing it, it's just it feels like it has very similar gameplay to borderlands minus the extra stuff for your car. Yes the graphics look better then borderlands and im not dissing on any of the games, I own borderlands, I just don't have enough knowledge of this game to buy it.

If you looked at recent gameplay of rage, I wouldn't say it is borderlands at all. Only thing similar is the graphic style

similarities are weapon mods, ammo effects, and vehicles. the graphic style is one of the most important DIFFERENCES seeing as though id's Tech 5 engine is brand spanking new never seen before eye porn goodness and has been labeled as revolutionary. another difference is there are no traditional rpg aspects. from what i seen there are a lot of bandit like characters in rage, but id has said that there will be different groups of enemies that have unique attitudes, characteristics, and fighting styles. also i saw a sentry gun that looked pretty bad ass. a borderlands comparison makes complete sense from what we've seen, but i feel like even with all the similarities to other games it will be unique enough and "id like" for id to call it a true original and start a brand new successful franchise. maybe a lot of wishful thinking, but ive been waiting for this game since the first day i saw some screens and i think id has put and incredible amout of work into making this game good and taking its time, which many developers dont or cant do.

Yeah when you put it like that it does sound like it is unique in its own way, im glad someone else saw the borderlands comparison but considering ID did make Doom a game series that helped defined 1st person shooters, i should expect the best. Hm I might have to get this game now.

You mean it looks like borderlands in the fact that they both have guns? All sarcasm aside, I've heard that it plays much differently. From what I've heard it is very much a shooter, with none of the loot and multiplayer emphasis, at least in the single player. The multiplayer is much different also, not really tied into the single player at all. I guess it is pretty brown though, it must be Borderlands.

Well, the landscapes seem similar, vast, desert(ish) with bandits and creatures roaming the lands fighting anything that moves. I do understand that the graphics are indeed way better than borderlands. But Like I said before, I guess I just don't know enough about this game I don't know if it has RPG elements in it or if it is just for your car.

And we all know that people NEVER like any game that is slighly similar to any other game. Also,.. it's not an rpg.

People are getting my feelings towards this game confused with someone that doesn't want to play this game. I am just curious about it and just saying my opinion.

i've said this before but, why does everyone say every post apocalyptic game looks like fallout or borderlands! it's like saying a game set in a fantasy world looks like oblivion, or a futuristic setting looks like mass effect. End of the world settings with buildings in ruins have been around for a very long time.

waxc3...i see where your coming from and I agree...its got the looks and feel of FO3 but with a borderlands flavor....the graphics on Rage look terrific, if its anywhere close to the Fallout series gameplay this game will be great.

Doesn't look anything like Borderlands gameplay-wise; more like old school shooters like Serious Sam and Quake 2

its getting boardland comparisons, because its a quest based shooter with Co Op. Rage graphics are realistic while boardlands are cel shadded.

Why is everyone comparing this to other games! This game has a different graphic style, more serious tone, in depth story (borderlands has a very bland story), unique factions and enemies, unique weapon ideas, more of a post-apoc. atmosphere feel, uses inspirations (mad max) and last but not least IT HAS BEEN IN DEVELOPMENT YEARS BEFORE BORDERLANDS. I could write a book of reasons if I wanted to. But if anything you should rephrase your title "Borderlands looks like RAGE for me" which still wouldn't make sense due to heavy differences.

Mordecai says:
Yes, I Have heard the graphic style is good and I have watched some videos but, Just Because The graphics are great and the Creator is very good and well known does not make me want to buy a game it has to have more to it then that and I am glad that you are going to the depths to defend this game but I am not Insulting the game ONLY stating my views and things and the fact that people take it personally is the problem. But I won't know until the game is released. Games are always going to be compared to other games because of little similarities to other games and it helps decide if players are going to buy games if it looks like one game the fans of that game are going to buy the games that look like that. You know? We need to focus on the things that make the games different and that was all I was asking.

Conor D says:
Understandable, I sounded harsh, and I am only defending it because I like id software's ideas and games. I was trying to prove a point that every IP, should be judged for what it is and not for what it looks like, because people come to quick conclusions without even trying or doing extensive research on the game. Just my 2 cents. I respect your opinion and agree every game should make things different, but the fact this game has been in development for a while, even before these other similar setting games (Borderlands, Fallout 3), I doubt they would scrap their post-apocalyptic ideas based on that.

No it's fine man, it's nice to see or read some one that loves games as much as I do and I would get frustrated also if someone was clueless and It seemed like they were clueless when it comes to this game. Which I'm not going to lie I am. But the reason I honestly posted this is because I knew that other people would Know way more then I do about it because they followed it and I am interested in the game I just needed more information on it and ID does make great games, I mean they defined the 1st Person Shooter so every gamer has to respect that. Yeah, I bet it was frustrating for them when they found out borderlands came out and had the setting like theirs (not exactly like). But I do appreciate your 2 cents it helps me grow and change as a gamer to appreciate other games and it helps me find great classics games that will be my favorites forever.
