5.0 out of 5 stars REAL METAL at its best.
Thrash metal at it's best. No rap-core here. Two of the most intense vocalist I believe I have ever heard, groove oriented electric guitars, the bass player rockin' down there, and a drummer pounding the life out of the beats. What else could a true metal head ask for? Raging Speedhorn is up there in my favorite band list. Bye this album and keep RAGING THE SPEEDHORN.

2.0 out of 5 stars Kinda Contradicting The Guy Below...
There COULD be potential, but at the end of the day for a band to be good at the moment, they have to have variation. There is not one single chilled out song on this album, and with 2 singers you'd think that there would more experimentation with the vocals. Both singers just shout and there is not one single sung note. Take a look at many other bands at the moment -...

5.0 out of 5 stars The post-modern Sludge Masterpiece, November 20, 2000
This review is from: Raging Speedhorn (Audio CD)
Let me begin with a brief description of the metal sub-genre sludge.Sludge(core)is a genre which extends itself from the slow grinding sounds of doom metal and tripped out neo sabbath grooves of Stoner Rock with an added emphasis on stomach abusing screams. Prime examples of raw and brutal sludge would be ; Eyehategod , Bongzilla , Non - compos , and Iron Monkey.

Now here we have Raging Speedhorn ; a post-modern Sludge band. Why post modern? , well let me explain : Raging Speedhorn execute the churning monstorous grooves and tortuous screaming of sludge with an added emphasis on melody and dynamics. This added emphasis on dynamics includes a two stream vocal attack, a focus on phat funky beats and infectious melodies. The caustic violence of Sludge ( which is a good thing ) gets replaced with warm melodies that seep into the power chord crunch. Raging Speedhorn is still a loud chuunky Sludge release but what makes it a welcome change is the aforementioned stylistic developments.

Think of Raging Speedhorn as a Sludge recorded coated with candy and syrup. -Yummy!

4.0 out of 5 stars This is a damn good debut album, February 4, 2001

The last time I heard a great debut album was "burn my eyes" and machine head only got better. Not to compare R/S to M/H, but the same is true. R/S will only get better, and for their debut to sound this good will only make you think how great this band will become. Two vocalists who sound like they want to take the world down with them and blistering guitar and drums make this a tight little package that will knock your head off.

4.0 out of 5 stars An angry hate-filled masterpiece, January 23, 2001

I just love this album. It's so angry and aggressive that it makes a perfect soundtrack to a bad day at the office. Imagine a combination of death metal, hardcore and Black Sabbath-esque stoner rock, all played very fast and brutal, and then you've got an idea behind the Ragin Speedhorn sound. The sheer heaviness means this isn't an album that everyone will enjoy, but if you like bands like Iron Monkey and Earthtone9, or just fast heavy music, then I can guarantee that you will like this.

There COULD be potential, but at the end of the day for a band to be good at the moment, they have to have variation. There is not one single chilled out song on this album, and with 2 singers you'd think that there would more experimentation with the vocals. Both singers just shout and there is not one single sung note. Take a look at many other bands at the moment - earthtone9, Machine Head, Deftones, Deadlights - they are all really heavy with shouting but contain singing as well. Dont get me wrong, I like heavy, shouty aggressive music but a 10 track album needs to give the listener something else as well. If you want more heavy music then by all means buy this, but the songs are far too similar compared to loads of other cool, heavy bands. Old school metal bands (Pantera, Slayer, early Machine Head, Entombed) are far better.

This is just overhyped and musically simple.
