This was one of the best movies & tv shows in the 80's. I do have the movie along with the Rags to Riches in Vegas movie. I also have a few episodes on tape too. If anyone is interested in purchasing copies you can email me.

I can't say enough about Rags to Riches.I saw the movie when it first aired on NBC in 1987 when I was 13 years old.My sister and I were totally enthralled and obsessed with it.The series was great and we watched it every week.I would have to say my favorite episodes were the ones about Diane and her boyfriend Duke and the one with Marva and the food truck business she had.I particularley love the quarrel scene between Nick Foley and Al Shweickert. That scene used to make me double over with laughter. This was an absolute delightful family movie to see and I highly reccomend it.

The series and the movie were not one and the same!,
This review is from: Rags to Riches [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Someone stated that the series was just the movie cut up with commercials placed throughout. That is simply not true. The move was a jumpstart for the series. It showed how the girls ended up in the mansion and the series was about their lives there.
I wish this was out on dvd. I'd purchase the whole series. My friends and I used to gush about the show the day after it aired.

Rags to Riches,

Words cannot explain how happy I am. It bring back all the good memories when I was a little girl. I received the video this morning and it's still new, good condition and still sealed. I enjoy the show so much. I have been looking for this video since early this year. I searched everywhere, but still no luck. It took me almost 10 months before I found the video. I love the singing and dancing scenes in the movie. I have been a great fan of Rags to Riches and always admire their fashion sense. Great having a big mansion like the Foleys. This movie will stay in my generation!!!

My sister and I were obsessed with this show as kids. In fact, it's the sole reason that I started playing the saxophone in middle school (Mickey, the youngest of the bunch, plays the sax). What's strange is that I never realized that Bill Maher or Tisha Campbell were in it.
I loved the songs - campy, yes, but fun for Annie-type fans. They took Golden Oldies and changed the lyrics to fit the situation. In fact, I can't hear "All I Have To Do Is Dream" without missinging the lyrics as "I couldn't treat Diane that waaaaaay!". Awesome. I can't believe I got my hands on this. The things you thing are lost, you know? Bless the internet, and Al Gore for inventing it.

Waiting for DVD of movie and series.,

First off, this is by far one of the best series cancelled way too soon. I just wish that they would put out a DVD of the entire series including the movie. I just fell in love with this series growing up and when it went off the air, I was devasted! It's one of the few shows that I still think about and want to see again. I refuse to buy it on tape though because I wouldn't want to watch it in fear of something happening to it or it wearing out like tapes tend to do. Secondly, I have to add this point, the movie is NOT the series at all. I have no idea where anyone got that impression. The series was also missing one of the movie's key characters. The movie focuses a lot on one character and her need to be independent due to some boy (Nina played by Heather McAdams who later played Cat on Sisters/ Teddie's daughter). The series, as far as I can remember, doesn't even mention her character. I could be wrong in my memory of this, but I'm absolutely correct about the issue of the series and the movie not being the same. Anyway, it's a movie that will stick with you for a long time.
