Good start for a new series., May 19, 2006
This review is from: The Rags-To-Riches Wife (Silhouette Desire) (Mass Market Paperback)
The Rags-to-Riches ife is a good start for the new Silhouette Desire series "Secret Lives of Society Wives". The story is relaxing, the hero is charming, loving and responsible. I couldn't care much about the heroine though. Lilly Miller is full of insecurities, she met Jack in a masquerade ball and decided to have anonimous sex with him. Now she is pregnant, and when 5 months later Jack finds out, he proposes marriage as the more logical solution.
Not to sure, Lilly agrees; but on their wedding night, she decides to play the scared bride and refuses to consummate their marriage. Totally silly if you ask me, after she gave herself to him so easily on their first night together.
The drama is to see them falling love, and to introduce interesting characters that will have their own stories in upcoming books.
Not a total dislike, if you are willing to read the series, you need to read this one in order to learn about the dissapereance of a diary that contains the most scandalous secrets of the Conneticut high class society.

Sweet and Touching Story, May 21, 2006
This review is from: The Rags-To-Riches Wife (Silhouette Desire) (Mass Market Paperback)
I love this book! Lily Miller is a wonderful heroine. She is vulnerable b/c she was abandoned as an infant by her natural mother and has experienced rejection at the hands of the foster care system. She is strong b/c she has overcome her troubled past. In a Cinderella-like situation, Lily meets Jack Cartwright, an intelligent and honourable man. Their passionate interlude is out of character for both of them. As such, their identities remain shrouded. When Jack determines who Lily is and that she is pregnant, he persuades Lily that the best route is for them to marry. The story isn't complicated, but it's fully of sweet moments. I highly recommend!
