5.0 out of 5 stars more ragtime fun, September 30, 2005
This review is from: New Ragtime Follies (Audio CD)
This was TONY ORLANDO AND DAWN 4th lp and their most successful,... selling over one million copies and spawning 3 top ten hits and a uk single YOU SAY THE SWEETEST THINGS,which is a duet with Telma and Tony. The lp ,now being released on cd for the first time, kicks off with an overture of many of the tracks and hits from the lp and quickly slides into the mid tempo hits STEPPIN OUT GONNA BOOGIE TONIGHT#7 POP,#4ac AND then the million selling single SWEET GYPSY ROSE,#3pop,#1AC, follows.the lp does not stop with the hits nor is this set filled with filler.every song on this lp is a great song and performance from the group.once again this lp showcases the group as a vocal group and not 2 seperate entities which was the case later when the group became known as TONY ORLANDO AND DAWN with the success of their show.at the time of this release the group was still known as DAWN featuring TONY ORLANDO,... and the lp highlights include,IF IT WASNT FOR YOU,the up temo rocker SWEET SUMMER days of my life ,which could have been a single rather than a b side...SIDE 2 kicks off with another hit WHIS IN THE STRAWBERRY PATCHES WITH SALLY#3pop, and a nice lead by Telma Hopkins on a newly reinvented DAYDREAM.....other tracks are UKULELE MAN,ATLANTA.This cd version includes 4 bonus tracks.if any of these hits sound familiar to you ,this cd is for you.one of the best by TONY ORLANDO AND DAWN...and alot of fun.this cd is guaranteed to put a smile on your face or a good stress reliever after a hard days work.i found myself singing along to these songs driving in the car.alot of good songs and memories .

5.0 out of 5 stars Ragtime Jolly Follies, October 12, 2005
This review is from: New Ragtime Follies (Audio CD)
This was Tony Orlando and Dawn's best selling LP.There are a lot of great tunes on this LP.The single mix of "Steppin Out Gonna Boogie Tonight" sounds really great. The duet alone is wonderful between Telma Hopkins and Tony Orlando on"You Say The Sweetest Things". Tony has great vocals on "Atlanta" and "Sweet Summer Days Of My Life".The other songs are great as well. They also included the songs from Tony Orlando and Dawn's Skybird album that can fit in with the other songs on the Ragtime Follies LP.Telma Hopkins and Joyce Vincent Wilsons vocals are great on"Daydream". This is a must have for any Tony Orlando and Dawn fan.I highly recommend it.

I was so pleased to see this album released at last. It was one of my favourite Seventies albums and was played to death on my old Dansette Record Player, when I used to know all the lyrics and sing along to all the tracks. This truly has brought back some very happy childhood memories for me!
