Great album! If you like Disney, you'll love this album!,

I couldn't believe that the original Golden Horseshoe Revue and Miracles From Molecules were on here. They sound great in Ragtime. Even the songs I've heard a million times like Zipadee doo dah and When You Wish Upon a Star sounded great in Ragtime. I also like the booklet with it with notes by some of the Disney composers. I learned a lot. I LOVE THIS ALBUM!!

It's good Disney, and it's good ragtime.,
This review is from: Ragtime at the Magical Kingdoms (Audio CD)
The upbeat, gentle, main-street American genre of ragtime works perfectly with the upbeat, gentle, main-street American theme of the Disney parks. He doesn't need to sacrifice either to the other, even in such unlikely ragtime tunes as Maroon Cartoon, Golden Dreams, or the Hawaiian War Chant. You could believe that you're listening to him as you walk down Main Street, and maybe you have. Then when I thought it couldn't get any better, I came to the final cut -- an interview of Walt, including a short clip of him doing Mickey's voice. What fun! My, oh my, what a wonderful day.

Any lover of ragtime will be pleased by Chris Calabrese's masterful interpretations in this CD. He is a fantastic piano player. If you like Disney, you will thrill at these ragtime versions.

The BEST Ragtime I have ever heard.,

This CD is the most amazing, colossal, and genius display of ragtime that I have ever heard. I bought this CD on Main Street at Disneyland and I need to buy 5 more for all of my musician friends. I am a Concerting World-Champion Pianist from LAs Vegas and it takes a mountain to impress me, but this CD is one of a kind. I am a huge disney fan and piano is my life. This CD is so highly reccomended I would buy it for you if you were my friend. Really it is just Subperb. Chris Calabrese is the finest ragtime pianist alive in the world today.

A real treasure,

Ragtime is indeed a music that goes hand in hand with the Disney theme parks, and as Chris Calabrese proves, not just with Main Street tunes. This CD was a real treasure to me, because it features some rarer, even extinct attractions, such as "If You Had Wings". This was my favorite Walt Disney World attraction as a kid, but it went belly up when its sponsor, Eastern Airlines, did. It was so wonderful to hear that melody again! Parts of it I had forgotten, but then I listened to this album, and though, "Oh,yeah! That's how it went!" I also liked hearing that catchy jingle from the Rio del Tiempo ride at the Mexican Pavilion at Epcot. Once you hear that tune, it's in your head forever!

THIS IS A FANTASTIC ragtime/Disney CD...I am now searching for
anything else I can find by Chris Calabrese, the pianist! It is right up there with my alltime favorite ragtime CDs...and I have many! If you like ragtime piano and/or Disney music, this is a must have! I would rate it at 10 stars if it were up to me!

Bad Piano,

I have just listened to that CD. I am disappointed. Unfortunately the piano is electronic and it seems played by computer or MIDI sequencer.
What a pity! All the tracks would be better with a real pianoforte. |
