5.0 out of 5 stars Ragtime lover? You'll want this one!, January 5, 2011

This review is from: Ragtime Man (Audio CD)
Morath is in my opinion by far the best ragtime pianist. His two "The World of Scott Joplin"-cd's are landmarks, and this one is a very fine supplementary. Most compositions are by the big three, Joplin, Scott, and Lamb. But you'll also enjoy a few seldom heard things by e.g. Joseph Northrup, Charles Johnson and George Botsford. - And then his own "Cripple Creek Suite", proving that Morath is not only a grand performer, but also a fine ragtime composer. As with the other Morath recordings the sound quality is perfect, and it's a pleasure for the listener to listen again and again, closer and closer into his phrasing, his handling of the chords, his hardly hearable rythmical variations. The booklet notes by Morath himself are short, but interesting. In other words: Go for it!
