Chances are that if you are a long time gamer, you'd have heard of the Raiden series. A scrolling shoot 'em up kind of like the classic Capcom arcade shooter 1942, the Raiden games have always offered simplistic fun, and Raiden 3 is no different. Raiden 3 doesn't really do much to change up the gameplay elements of the series, and for new fans it is easily accessible. The game is pretty challenging, and the two-player co-op mode is undoubtedly the best way to play the game. However, the generic gameplay can get boring really quickly, and there really isn't much here in terms of replay value or total game length either. Not to mention that there is basically nothing here that you haven't seen before in other games in the Raiden series, or other scrolling shooter games before or after it either. All that being said, Raiden 3 isn't a bad game one bit, and it's definitely worth a look for longtime fans of the series or genre, but there's just not enough here to warrant any more than just a quick checking out.

Now when you hear a person say , "Man! I wish some of those old great classic game's of the past could be given a 21st century makeover on our newer systems." Well that's exactly what you have here folks.

Longtime fans will have a blast rediscovering the great time they had in the arcade with the new look and enhanced graphics , which may I say are very , very cool , while maintaining the look and feel of the original. Newer kids discovering Raiden today will enjoy the shoot'em up fun of retro yesteryear.

The Game's onscreen Display come's in 4 different options: The classic look of the original arcade version / a slighty wider-enhanced version / and two fuller screen option's , which came as a nice little bonus. So if you can find this game for under $15 , then it's a no-brainer.

this game is intense. you will basically have to memorize a lot of various stages and have very fast reflexes. great shooter and lots of fun.

This game is just plain awesome, it's a matter of just having the guts to overcome the odds of fighting against incredible amount of alien spacecrafts. This game is a must buy for shoot-'em-up gamers. Although short, the guilty pleasure of beating this game is never ending....the game is fast,and the explosions are enormous!!! Raiden 3 pilots ....BRACE YOURSELVES.....

If you grew up playing the Raiden series in the early 90s (1990 - 1995) while in high school or college, then this is a must have. It's a beautiful 3D rendition of the original arcade. When I say 3D, I don't mean games like Rogue Warrior, War Hawk, etc. This version of Raiden still maintains the spirit of a 2d vertical side scroller shooter, but the background is rendered in 3D, instead of the traditional static sprite blitting that happens with the original arcade. But then again, the original arcade hardware was using dual 8MHz - 16MHz 6800 processors, while the PS2 is using multiple RS4000 RISCS based processors with a Vertex Emotion engine core. You get the picture...
A nice to have for this would have been the inclusion some of the original Raiden arcade series like FX and DX. But alas it does not have it, unless it was included as special easter rabbit and you need some secret code to get at it.
Anyways buy this if you liked the original arcade Raiden series. You should probably get this is you enjoy vertical side scroller shooters even if you have never played Raiden. Think R-Type, rotated 90 degrees counter clockwise, and you can image what a vertical side scroller is.

This game does not work for the ps3 slim systems....even after downloading the ps2 data to play ps2 games. It will not work. It only works for an original ps2!!WTF

As far as packaging, shipment and product. Everything was excellent. It came in a timely manner. The disc has no scratches. The case is undamaged. It is like new.

Raiden III is an excellent shooter for the Playstation 2. While it isn't quite on par with the most recent chapter in the Raiden franchise, Raiden IV, it's still an exceptional addition to the franchise. The one minor complaint is that that ships feel a tad bit slow in comparison to other Raiden games. Raiden III is slick in its presentation, satisfying in its gameplay, and ultimately well worth purchasing for fans of the genre.

- Great shoot 'em up gameplay -- though the movement speed is a bit slow

- First 3D Raiden entry
- Solid replay value

Raiden III isn't the best Raiden, though it's still worth every penny of its asking price.

I do like this game.
The only thing I dislike about it is its narrow screen.
I have a widescreen tv and this game doesn't make the best of it.
However, I hope its sequence or other game like it comes to PS3 and XBOX 360.

Not as fun as the predecessor as i stated. the arcade versions allow you to select form mult ships but this one seems to be just put together for the sake for of home one on the home console.
