I purchased this unit over the others because it was the only one fairly priced with a complete steel tube frame and a shell cover that had good visibility up front. Finding the correct mounting method for my snow thrower took a little time, but that was expected considering this is a universal cab so I was not upset by that.

The problems with this product are:
-The powder coating on the steel tube frame is extremely poor and scrapes off while connecting the steel tube frame together.
-The unit did not assemble correctly. Each pipe of the frame is labeled so you know how to assemble them together correctly (since the manual was completely useless). What you can't see in their example picture is that the top four pipes (L shaped - one from each corner) are supposed to all connect in the middle together with one bolt. The issue that I faced with this is that none of the pipes when pulled into the center were even close to the same height. I double and triple checked the assembly of the cab to make sure I didn't goof along the way somewhere, but everything was correct. So the only way I was able to make it "work" was to just bend the life out of each pipe until I could make all of the pipes, more or less, meet at the same height so the holes would line up enough to force the bolt through to hold them together.

The good things about this product are:
-The cab can be quickly detached
-The cab shell seemed to be of fair quality and has good visibility.
-The steel tubes so far seem strong.

My Conclusion:
Instead of dealing with the hassle and cost of returning this item, I plan on rebuilding the upper half of the frame with my own design - they way I thought/expected this unit to have came.
I absolutely do NOT recommend this product to anyone.

I can't believe anyone would give this garbage more than 1 star. Here are the issues:

- The "powder coat" is so poor that it shatters and flakes off during installation. Any tightening of brackets or bolts causes it to fall off in sheets and huge chips.
- The paint is done so poorly that some of the framing tubes would not fit into the others without "crunching" the paint out, leaving exposed bare metal.
- The cover is so poorly made that the sewing of the seams let loose during installation.
- The cover is so tight on the frame (despite numerous different attempts and adjustments) that I have no confidence that any remaining intact sewing would last more than 1 season.

Assembly wasn't bad, but the quality is so poor that the unit simply can't withstand the assembly process.

If you have someone you really dislike and you want to have them waste a couple hours wrestling with this thing, go ahead and get it for them. Otherwise, avoid!!!

I was a bit worried after all of the reviews concerning installation. Because of those reviews I was hesitant to purchase this one. It was a good price, and I'm tired of being covered in snow so I "bit the bullet." I sat down and read the instructions from start to finish. I lined all of the parts up and read them again. I thought "we'll let's start fighting with it" and started. It was pretty easy. I see where some folks get confused. The FIRST thing you are going is making a brace for the hood to attach to. That's the part that is different for each snow blower. If you read ahead and KNOW why you are doing things it's pretty simple. It took me less than an hour, alone, to do this. 30 minutes of that was reading, re-reading, and understanding how it worked. (All of that wasn't THAT necessary, but like I said these other reviews scared me) Overall it was pretty easy to install and works great.

I bought this snowthrower cab three years ago, and it STILL is holding up as if it were new! Before I bought it, I was getting pelted in the face with snow coming back at me in the wind. When I was done snowthrowing, my face was red and numb, and my clothes were soaked. Not too comfortable in zero degree weather! My snowthrower manufacturer didn't make a cab, so I looked up the cab, and ordered it.
When the kit first arrived, I looked at all the hardware and thought I'd never figure it out! After studying the parts and the instruction manual, I soon realized that all of the included hardware was for use with ANY kind of snowthrower. It didn't take too long to find my compatible set of brackets. and then I was on my way! I absolutely love it! The cab is easily removed with the snapping off of six snap locks. Once the snaps are opened up. the whole cab comes off in one unit. The counter weight can stay on the front of the chute, this puts the whole cab in balance with the snowthrower. I store the cab itself in my garage as one unit, but I understand there is a way to fold it. I wouldn't recommend that at all!
The only overall drawback I have is that the cover that comes down over your back, sometimes lets melted snow come and drip down the back of your jacket and lets you get a little wet. It should be longer, but if it was, there would be fumes from the engine not being circulated correctly and you would breathe in fumes. The poly "windows" are very strong and durable and are easy to see through. They do not wrinkle much, and if they do, it is distortion free and go away quickly.
