Not worth the money!,
By RICHARD GABRIEL (Georgia/USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Rail-Trails Southeast: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North and South Carolina, Tennessee (Paperback)
The book includes 55 rail-trails, but only 21 are longer than 10 miles--a large number are 0.5-2.0 miles! The Rails-to-Trails Conservancy and the publisher must be trying to "stretch" the books into multiple volumes ("Southeast", "Northwest", "New England")to have 50 trails in each, even if many are only 1 mile long! If you live in region "X", and want to travel to region "Y" to ride, you're not interested in trails of only 0.5 to 5.0 miles!
On the positive, trail descriptions are detailed; great maps; contact for the organization responsible for the trail; directions to access points are clear.

All of the Rails to Trails Guide books are well worth the money. I find them useful when I visit an area to become acquainted with bike trails that are near by. The maps are good and the trail difficulty discussions are right on. This guide covers a large geographic area very well.

Maybe a great guide for slow walkers, but pretty much useless for bicyclists. A number of the trails are less than a mile in length.

Love the way the book is laid out. Easy to follow directions on how to find the trails you want and great trail maps. Will be using this book this winter when I go to Florida. Didn't realize how many cycling trails there are.

I gave this present to my aunt and uncle for Christmas as they have recently purchased new bikes and begun riding trails in our area. They have planned a trip to Florida next month and told me this book has been a great source of information in planning their trip. They really enjoyed this gift.
