Great book!,

This book is a great story of Noah and the Ark based on biblical fact with an adult perspective. I felt as if I could sense the darkness, the smells, and sounds that permeated the ark that was home to Noah's family and a pair of every creature on earth.
It is an easy book to read and let time slip away.

Dan and Chris have taken a good story and made it come alive. The dialogue, the struggles, and the imagery make this book difficult to put down. I felt like I was living the events. I felt excitement, pain, remorse, and longing from the very first chapter. I was pleasantly surprised at some of the outcomes.
Some of the character's struggles really struck a nerve. I can relate to their thoughts, mistakes, and accomplishments. Reading this book will make me a better person.

The Rain --- how refreshing!!,
This review is from: The Rain (Paperback)
This is the first nearly 300 page novel I have read in only 2 days. Not just because it flowed well, but simply because I could not put it down. Don't let the familiarity of the story of Noah's Ark keep you from purchasing this book. This book tells the story like no other. The author never deviates from bibilical truth, but creatively tells a story of the challenges, drama, and humor that COULD have occured on the ark. Even if you would not typically purchase a biblically based book, you are in for a real treat. You will never feel you are being "preached" to, but only that you are stepping into the life of a man who, though just as human-minded as any man, chose to obey God no matter what the cirumstance. And if you frequently enjoy reading biblically based books, this one will provide you with a wonderful reminder of the power in knowing God's love and sensing His protection. The Rain truly IS refreshing!!!

I Loved It!,
This review is from: The Rain (Paperback)
I just finished reading "The Rain" and I must say it was a very pleasant surprise. Originally I was intrigued that someone would try and build a novel on the Noah's ark bible story but even after I got my copy, I didn't see how it could be very compelling. Well I was wrong. This is a page turner!! Obviously I knew the outcome of the story but the authors managed to keep me engaged and engrossed throughout. I really didn't sense a lull throughout the novel. It is an easy read but not too light. There are plenty of passages that make you stop and think. I don't normally read Christian books but I recommend this one strictly for the entertainment value. I am ordering 3 more copies to give as gifts.

A semi-fictional account of Noah's Ark. Everything written is as true to the Bible as possible (the authors did their homework!), with fictional embellishments to make the story exciting on an emotional level. I know I will want to read this book several times. Also note that the author/s are going to be publishing another book (hopefully by late 2012) called The Tower, a sequel to The Rain. Can't wait!

New perspective,

Like most of us, I grew up with the Precious Moments image of Noah's Ark. This book helped me to look, for the first time, at what it might really have been like on the ark. How would it feel to hear your loved ones crying to get on after God shut the door? And what made those 8 survivors any different from those who perished? The book is based on Biblical fact, woven into a very entertaining book of "what if". If you enjoyed the Left Behind series, I highly recommend this one.

This is a fast paced Biblical Fiction of Noah and the Ark. Jesus is our Savior and the Ark was theirs. Excellent book I recommend it highly. Praise God and thank you Dan and Chris for all the prayers, hard work, and careful writing you did in this book. God Bless you,the images of this book I will keep forever.

The Rain,

I enjoyed reading The Rain because it made the bible story seem alive. The book added a realism and sense of adventure that is many times difficult to obtain directly reading from the bible. It is obvious that the authors went to great pains to develop the plot around the actual readings, that allowed me to become absorbed in the book. The result for me, is that I am now very familiar with the story of the Ark, versus previously remaining vaguely aware of an important part of the bible. More books like this are needed.

You will never think of "Noah's Ark" in the same way again!,

This review is from: The Rain (Paperback)
While reading this book, I realized that I had always taken the story of Noah and the ark for granted. I always believed it happened the way the Bible said, but I never stopped to think about Noah and his family as real people with real thoughts, emotions, personalities, and flaws. I must admit I probably never had the imagination to think in those terms. The Rain put the great flood story I had heard all my life into a new perspective for me. It also makes you take a step back and examine your own Christian life. It only takes the prologue to get you hooked. The dialogue, imagery, and content are just how they should be. I enjoyed reading the authors' comments at the end of the book. I read these first and became even more excited to read this novel. I read it in only two sittings, and I ordered several copies of The Rain to give as gifts. I can't wait for Chris and Dan to write another novel!

I'm not normally much of a reader but when this book came out, I just knew I had to get it. I've heard Chris tell stories in person so I knew the book would be good - I wasn't disappointed. I was hooked from the first page and finished it in just a few days. Throughout the story, I felt like I was there on the ark with them - the way he described everything made it so vivid! This was srictly an adult version of Noah's Ark and it was told in such a way that I believed every word of it - even though I know many parts were fiction. We have no way of knowing exactly what happened on the ark but Chris made it very believable. Would (and have) highly recommend this book to anyone! Can't wait for the sequel...
