Book Description

Three #1 bestselling novels by J.R. Rain, together in one omnibus:

It's tough being the King. Which is why in 1977 Elvis fakes his own death and endures massive facial reconstruction surgery, disappearing from the limelight to live a normal life as the unassuming Aaron King. Unfortunately, leaving fame behind also meant leaving his fortune behind, and now Elvis finds himself broke, living in near poverty in a small apartment in Los Angeles. Luckily for him, it turns out he's a pretty good private investigator. Not to mention, he misses his first love, music, and has thoughts of making a comeback. Discreetly, of course. But one thing at a time. First he has to solve a baffling missing person case, in which a young starlet, at the beginning of a promising career, has disappeared off the face of the earth. As Elvis digs deeper, he finds himself surrounded by the seedier elements of Los Angeles, from nefarious Hollywood producers who prey on the young, to twin brothers with a dark secret. Ultimately, Elvis discovers a truth almost too horrible to imagine. And through it all, Elvis Presley slowly makes his singing comeback—only to be reunited on stage with someone even the King himself never dreamed possible.

Hidden deep within the ancient, mist-covered hills of Glastonbury, England is a secret that could forever change the world. A secret that could help usher in a new age of enlightenment for all mankind. Or so the legend goes...Plagued by months of persistent dreams of King Arthur, Merlin and the Holy Grail, mystery novelist James Dupree finally sets out to England to understand the meaning behind his nightly visions. Upon arriving in Glastonbury, a locale deeply connected to stories of Camelot, Avalon and the Knights of the Round Table, James quickly discovers that not all is as it seems in this quaint little town. There's a raven-haired girl dying of a rare lung disease, knights with swords, and perhaps strangest of all is the man who emerges from the forest...a man who just might be the greatest king Britain has ever seen. Something is happening in Glastonbury, something mysterious and powerful and not-of-this world, and somehow James Dupree is in the thick of it. Mankind is ready for the next great spiritual shift. But to do that, one man, one simple writer, must journey deep into the heart of a mystical land in search of a legendary relic. But there are others who seek the treasure...dark forces who will stop at nothing to keep it for themselves, and end Dupree's quest for good.

First in a new series featuring paranormal investigators Ellen and Monty Drew. Ellen claims to possess a sixth sense but Monty, a former P.I., only believes what he can see. She views their work as a sacred mission while Monty just wants a happy wife and a paycheck. Now the Drews are summoned to a Southern California bible college after workers report hearing mysterious voices at night. When they encounter the unhappy ghost of a young girl, Monty's skepticism is shaken, but he resolves to help his wife free the trapped spirit. Their search uncovers the Latin phrase "Non omnis moriar"—not all of me shall die—and they learn more about the site’s history as a Catholic school destroyed by an earthquake. But a mysterious presence has plans of its own for the young ghost, and Monty and Ellen must go head to head with a Dark Master that’s had more than a century of practice in demonic deeds. Now Monty must leave his body to do battle with the Dark Master, and he’s not sure Ellen will be able to bring him back in one piece. He’s not even sure what's happening is real. All he knows is that all hell is breaking loose and he's taking a crash course where an "F" means eternal damnation.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Stories January 23, 2013
By Liz
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The first two books is the "Jim Knighthorse" series 1& 2. It was also the first book I read by this author. Though the character. "Jim Knighthorse" irritated me at the beginning because he was so cocky, so full of himself but after a while he grew on me and his sense of humor was fantastic. I enjoyed the character very much after I got used to him. The writing was also great, easy and not over complicated. Yes, I did stumble across a few minor mistakes, like missing words, wrong names, grammar, etc. but it didn't kill the enjoyment. Actually, as soon as I finished with the first two books in the series, I bought the third one, so I could end the series together.
Then I went back and finished the third book in this one, "Elvis has Not left the building". This book was also very entertaining and interesting. The story is well written and flows easy. Again, a few missing words here and there like: "I might here all night" but not a big deal to me. The Elvis character reminded me a lot of the Jim Knighthorse character but I guess that is to be expected.
There was one thing that caught my attention though, in the third book Elvis said:"...but I think I probably still sounded like a bear drunk on fermented elderberries." After I finished the book I started reading a sample of "The Vampire with the Dragon Tattoo" and came across a line saying this:" And now I was recklessly crashing through the forest like a bear drunk on fermented elderberries." LOL, I guess the author really likes that saying :)

5.0 out of 5 stars My NOW favorite author December 16, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
J.R. Rains writes with a tongue in cheek manner which adds a lot to the books and it's characters.
My favorite series so far has been the Samantha Moon Detective series which has branched out to
include other detectives and segwayed into series for them just as potent.

Supernatural beings versus one another and human kind in a crime novel. J.R. does this with just a touch of romance, blended into
tales of wonderful imagination with characters who deal with day to day issues but also keeps you wanting to absorp the next line as these books are so hared to put down. The only draw back is I read faster than J.R. writes.

4.0 out of 5 stars It isn't all about Elvis August 13, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I enjoyed the detective story with Elvis although it got a little depressing at times. After years of separation and guilt, I don't think the ending was believable. The second story in my opinion was the best, but it does not end well and you're a left with a question as to whether you want to invest in the next book - not tempted enough for this reader. The third story was just not my cup of suspense. These three fantasies were totally unrelated. I don't understand why they were packaged together,

I gave the Elvis story 5 stars. Yeah, it was a bit on the sentimental, heart strings type story but it was so well written, and I found the story line unique. Read more

Well, I did enjoy reading the book, but, seriously, Elvis, still alive, as a P. I.? Good plot--not sure what the three novels were.

I found all three books quite entertaining. I'm not a big fan of supernatural fiction but these books kept me smiling as I enjoy sarcasm as an art form.
