5.0 out of 5 stars "Rain Dancer" - Magical, Enchanting, Transcendent, Masterful, February 12, 2000
By
tomfrompennsylvania (Greater Philadelphia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Rain Dancer (Audio CD)
I'm new to flamenco music, but this is one of the most enthralling and gently moving collections of instrumental music I've ever heard by anybody. I've also heard "Rubia" by the artist, but this one I give a little bit higher ranking. This may be his masterpiece among masterpieces, though I haven't heard others beyond these. Perfect music to motor up or down The Pacific Coast Highway on, or anywhere you want to conjure up a spirit of romance, even in a divine way. Exotic, tasteful, graceful, warm, energizing and calming by turns. A musical love letter! Recommended without reservation. Crying to be heard!

Wow what a album. When the first album of Armik RAIN DANCER released my friend told me about this album that nobody can strums the guitar like amik i asked him to lend me the cd for few days and he gave me the cd to listen to Armik first album i was thinking that maybe this album will be good or not.Well when i listened to the armik i was not in myself i was somewhere else i was dreaming.FOR ANNETTE the first track of RAIN DANCER was very soft track i was impressed by the first track. And when i listened to the last track of RAIN DANCER that is ZINGARO not me whomever listen to this track will start dancing .I listened to each and every track of RAIN DANCER and they are all awesome. Whenever Armik strums the guitar the birds sat down on the stems of the trees and started listening to the armik the passion.i think armik is great guitarist in the world and i really appreciate him.

I first heard his music while I was placed on hold on the telephone and had to ask the operator to put me back on hold just so I can finish listening to rest of his music.I love listening to various music, but my passion is listening to anything with a guitar.I can't tell you enough how Armiks music will put passion back into your life.I can listen to this cd among his other ones forever. You will not be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars It is the greatest instrumental work for over 20 years., January 19, 1999
This review is from: Rain Dancer (Audio CD)
Armik has managed to achieve through this CD what no one else has in contemporary music. He has come up with brilliant tunes. Out of the total of 10 wonderful, sweet, melodious and tuneful tracks, 8 are his originals. I don't think anyone in instrumental music today can hold a candle to Armik's music that is simply unbelievably good. I came across Armik two years back on our local FM station when they were playing his magical track, "For Annette." I hadn't even heard of Armik then. None of his albums were available in my city. Then, about a month back I decided to look for Armik on the Amazon site, and much to my delight, I found him there. I ordered his first album, The Rain Dancer, as it had the For Annette track which was the only one I had heard from Armik. I got my CD in two week's time and, boy, is it worth every red cent of it. All the tracks are so very tuneful instead of boring, slow and out-of-rhythm strumming you get to hear by other guitarists. Even the so-called "legendary" flamenco guitarists are not in Armik's league when it comes to musical talent. All the tracks take you to another world where you are lost in the swinging melodies. Armik seems to be gifted with superhuman fingers. I have the CD now for over two weeks and I have been listening to it for about 8 hours a day. I personally believe that good music is about good tunes mainly and a good tune is the hardest thing to find in contemporary music. All the great, household names of today are basically noise. Even the giants of instrumental music pounding away their dull tones and tunes like Yanni, Kenny G or Robert Miles are flat and bland compared to Armik. I usually listen to music only from the sixties or seventies and only romantic music for that, although I am 25 years of age and 50+ as you might imagine. I consider it the real music. Armik is the only exception from contemporary music I like. In fact, I love his music. I strongly recommend this particular album to all music fans. I think if Armik can get himself on TV and into the top 40s, he would become the new instrumental giant of today. May be, he can repeat history written by Herb Alpert back in the seventies. He has tremendous natural talent. It is not just the guitar-playing skills but the uncanny and rare talent to come up with out-of-this-world tunes. For Annette and Zingaro are in particularly attractive. I recommend this album to all Amazon customers. Don't miss out on the musical genius of today.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sheer Intense Musical Pleasure ..., August 21, 2001

Billy Lum (KUALA LUMPUR Malaysia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Rain Dancer (Audio CD)
This is the 6th album from Armik that I've just purchased today. (In chronolgical order, I've purchased "Rosas del Amor", "Gypsy Flame", "Rubia" & "Malaga"). His debut album is my latest addition to my prized Armik collection.

"Rain Dancer" is an absolutely brilliant piece of acoustic/flamenco/jazz/latin masterpiece. So good, I've only sampled 'for annette' and i parted my money. With 5 other albums from Armik already played and greatly appreciated, there's no doubt in my mind that "Rain Dancer" will prove 'bad-buy'. Right this momemet, Armik is providing me with such absorbing and involving music (via my PC), i give all my blessings for "a-cut-above" rating for "Rain Dancer. Simply magnificent !! (May i also add, that the recording (sonic) quality on all Armik albums are 'audiophile'-type. That good, if I say so myself.

What are you hestitating for? Buy "Rain Dancer" NOW (buy all entire 6 albums, if you can). No prize for guessing - i'll get 'Isla Del Sol" in a matter of days (Seriously, I want time to enjoy my latest purchase)

Mr. Armik Dashchi ... the highest honours goes to you, from the bottom of my heart. You're a CHAMPION ! Ole!!

p.s. Mr. Dashchi - any chance of doing a concert here in Kuala Lumpur?

5.0 out of 5 stars Professor Armik..., April 29, 2000

In this outstanding album Professor Armik (as I and my friends call him) give us again lessons how to balance technique and passion, talent and vibration... Usually if I can take 3 good songs in an album it's fine... In this you have at least 6 masterpieces including a revisit to Entre dos Aguas. If you like New Flamenco buy now... If you dont like I am very sorry for you... Abraços.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful music - What an artist !, January 8, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Rain Dancer (Audio CD)
This CD is full of good songs and it shows that Armik is a gifted guitarist. The title track Rain Dancer is very good, so as Zingaro, Golden Palms, Sailing to Bimini, Enter Dos Aguas and my favorite of all is Nights in Negril. I wish that the sound mixing could be a little better like "For Annette" , we don't hear much of the bass which will enrich the whole song or is it intended that way ? Overall, it's a good CD and I also suggest that you buy Gypsy Flame and Rubia , these are fine CD to have if you're an Armik fan.

First of all, I must admit that I love this kind of music but man, when Armik puts his hands on the guitar, it is almost spiritual. What talent!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars one of his best, January 14, 2006
By
This review is from: Rain Dancer (Audio CD)
I own another 4 Armik albums and this one. Rain Dancer is one of his older work, but it's my favorite of all his records. With the very recent records I felt he drop back a bit on creativity. With Rain Dancer the music is more soothing and relaxing than the usual lively and active, quick beat of his newer records.

Every songs in the record is beautiful, but I must say my highlight is the two last songs, which are probably some of the most beautiful instrumental songs I ever heard, more beautiful to me than "Marooned" by Pink Floyd. It worth it to buy the album just to hear these two songs.

5.0 out of 5 stars One Of The Best, August 5, 2005
This review is from: Rain Dancer (Audio CD)
Armik is definitely one of the best guitarists in his genre. Every song on this album is enjoyable, and pleasing to hear. There is nothing abrasive about his smooth flowing style. Enjoy it.
