Great informational book about the Rain Forest. My daughter in 3rd Grade needed a book to write a report about and one that she could do a presentation on for the Rain Forest. It was very informational and she still reads it a year later.

Format: Hardcover
This well-written, informative and colorful book is a must have if studying or learning more about the rain forest. Unlike some of the other children's books on the subject out there, this one very clearly states the four levels of the rainforest, starting from the top:
Emergent layer
The canopy
The understory
The forest floor
Rivers (not really a layer but shown)

The book is written in short spurts in that on each page there are several different labeled paragraphs under one big title making it easy to read and comprehend. There are a wealth of photos included along with the facts and vocabulary. Animals, plants, birds etc are all in here. At the end of the book there is a glossary as well as a animal alphabet so you can quickly look up on which page a particular animal is.

A wealth of information for youngsters! Highly recommended!

The illustrations and information in this book are fabulous. Awesome photography that draws you right into the rainforest biome. However, I had no idea this book was so small! It is barely four inches tall. I thought I was purchasing a nice, big book on the rainforest for my children, and was rather disappointed.
