This book has given many hours of enjoyment for our family. The different textures, rhyming, and fun activitiy make this 8 page book seem like 50. We have read it over and over, and everytime my son finds something new to look at. Great gift idea.

I was very unhappy with a recent purchase from Winter Ventures, Inc. The book I ordered was advertised as used-good. It certainlly wAS USED! The back cover was torn off and taped on-tape didn't hold. Edges were torn and dirty. I will not purchas from Winter Ventures again. I will not return this book and throw good money after bad.

This book was my introduction to Maurice Pledger, and still our favorite of his touch-and-feel adventure books.

My Sister-in-Law gave us "In the Rainforest" when my daughter was a couple months old. I stuck it in the book case and forgot about it for awhile. We rediscovered it after her first birthday when she got old enough to appreciate the textures and turn the flaps. She likes it more than most interactive books that are marketed for babies. There are way more and different textures and she is fascinated at how the same material is one picture on one side of the flap, then turns into another one when she turns the flap. It has way more interest mileage because it has novel animals and not just "duck, chick, kitty..." like baby books. (ducks, chicks and kitties are great, but there are so many books about them!!!!!!!)

Textures include a vine with ridges that turns into a chameleon, a satiny but textured leaf that turns into a snake, a little shiney beetle that runs into a big shiney beetle and a sticky flower that turns into an anteater's tongue, among others.

The pages are very sturdy, about the thickness of poster board, and I can leave it within her reach to look at by herself without worrying she will destroy it. That is good, as this book will "grow with her" developmentally, and she will get different kinds of learning from it at different ages. Right now we mostly name just the major "players" in each picture and talk about the textures "It's a furry moth!!!" Later on we can read the whole text and play "find the..."

For myself, reading this book with my daughter is a welcomed break from Teletubbies, chicks that peep and ducks that quack. We love it so much I bought several more "touch-and-feel adventures from Maurice Pledger. We love all of them, but this is still our favorite.

I recommend this book for children of all ages.

My 2 year-old son and I just love this book! The illustrations are beautiful and eye-catching with such bright colors and interesting creatures. My son loves to look at all of the details on every page. He also loves to touch the different textures. We never get tired of reading this book. It is definitely one of, if not THE best touch/feel book!!

We have three of these books. The other two we have are "In the Ocean", and "In the Forest". The rain forest and forest ones are her favorite and she isn't even one year old yet. I give a lot of credit to these books because they are the only things that can keep her still for a long period of time. They have been life savers on airplane rides. I believe they have also encouraged her early love of books.
