A very simple show with a lot of education, no overstimulation, and modest values.

My son was so sad when Nickelodeon took this off the air a couple of months ago. I didn't want to buy used VHS tapes for him, and was hoping that DVDs would finally become available. Nice picture quality, although the cases and disks look completely bootlegged because they are produced on DVD-Rs by Amazon. Still, if your kids just love this show, it's nice to finally have a DVD collection of them.

Gullah Gullah Island was one of my faves as a kid. I always sing the songs to my daughter and had mentioned to a friend that they don't make quality children's TV anymore and that I wish they had Gullah Gullah Island around still. Then one day I was browsing children's show on my Prime acct and saw it. I played an episode for my daughter and she's been hooked since.

I loved it then and I still love it now. More fun than Sesame Street (although I liked that show, too) because of the singing and dancing. Good for kids of all ages. A lot of discovery about nature, friendships, customs. This show is needed today to put "FUN" back into childhood.

My 20 month old daughter likes two shows.

1. Blues Clues
2. Gu Gu (Gullah Gullah Island)

If she likes it (and it is appropriate), I like it!

Thank you Amazon for offering it free to prime members!

I use to watch when I was younger and I missed it. Now I have my brothers and sisters into it.

It's amazing how two generations will join the same show. I watched this when I was young. I forgot all about it until I came across it on amazon instant video. All it took was playing it one time and my 4 year old was hooked. He absolutely loves the show and it's the first thing he wants to do when he wakes up and the last thing before going to bed. I even find myself drawn in from time to time. It just takes me back. The only thing that could be better is if season 2 would come free like season one. It is a snow that has been off the air for over a decade.
