4.0 out of 5 stars predominantly catchy commercial female vocal trance
With a couple of singles released here in the US, Jessy gets a full album release, and its a worthy addition to your collection if you like Lasgo, Ian Van Dahl, Becky Baeling, DHT, and groups of that style. There's an abundance of trancey sounding tracks (1,2,4,6,9,10,11,12), two that are more simple house (3,5), a slow jam (7), and two ballads (8, 13). A nice addition to...

A nice addition to this release would have been a couple of the extended versions of the singles as bonus tracks, which has become a standard practice with artists like this, including Kate Ryan and Milk Inc. Tracks are:

1. how long

2. head over heels

3. i'll get over you

4. tell me

5. white lies

6. silent tears

7. stuck on you

8. rain

9. what if

10. enchanted

11. look at me now

12. where did i go

13. dancing in the dark

Music can move, enlighten and give people pleasure like nothing else in this world. The ingredients for this art form is passion, craft and pleasure, otherwise it's a flat experience (much like listening to a elementary school's concert band that plays notes in an attempt to create something).

"Rain" by Jessy is a nice experience overall, however it comes off a bit flat. Jessy the lead singer shows little emotion and she has very little range. At times she raises her voice to hit a higher note or emphasis a word, but generally this is the exception to the rule.

The music moves and is energetic, yet she sings her low flat voice over the top of these raging notes and sounds.

I also cringe a bit when I hear the really cliche lyrics they have chosen. Now being western European and not having English as their mother-tongue, they may be listening to American and British music and trying to emulate those lyrics. I don't know, but the trite lyrics annoy me.

Before you believe I hate this CD, let me tell you that this CD still entertains me, and I enjoy it.

The background music and sounds are excellent. There is beautiful chords and good electronic percussion which shows a lot of energy that add to the tracks. The basic melodies are great and I especially enjoy the two ballads that have minimal instruments thus focusing on her voice.

One excellent note here, is how the CD does not become repetitive. I can't tell you how many songs and CD's in the genre that are maddeningly repetitive! Jessy's "Rain" evades this, thank god and let's us enjoy the melodies and undulating notes.

For Jessy to be successful in the future to a wider audience, I believe she needs more passion... more feeling. When you listen to female singers like Cascada or Kelly Clarkson... their voices show supreme passion and conviction. I don't get that from Jessy.

I do like Jessy's voice, but she needs more Clarkson.... more passion. I want her to convince me and make me believe in her words and music.

Overall, this is a very GOOD CD. Not great and not in my top 10 CD's, but I enjoy the CD.

But don't listen to me, check out the sampler on Amazon and decide for yourself.

One of the best albums of the 21th century eurodance made in Belgium.

The best tracks: Head over heels, Where do I go, Enchanted and Dancing in the Dark (top 10 hit in the UK).

5.0 out of 5 stars From my point of view........, June 4, 2007

I discovered Jessy from the UltraTrance:2 cd and DVD set. Her video is entitled "Look @ Me Now" and it is the second video on the DVD (There is another version of this video as well.)

I was instantly hooked on the song. Although I have downloaded most of her songs, I still wanted to have her cd, as in, a REAL cd and not just songs put together from here and there.

I work as a photographer for some Tampa Bay Area Djs and I get to listen to the hot new stuff before it hits the stores and I get asked for my honest opinions and now, I shall do the same for Jessy:

Buy Jessy's album. Seriously. It's a great album and it showcases her voice on different rhythms/beats and she does a stellar job.

Her voice is "different." It is not really that high pitched. It has this, "mellow" tone to it and that is fine.

One of the problems that I found with this cd is that there were no remix tracks. Most, if not ALL of the songs here are begging to be remixed into hard trance/house/Florida Breakbeats tracks. I know that "Dancing In The Dark" has some dance remixes floating around but the original ballad is one of the best that I have heard in ages, and I do not listen to "slow songs" at all, but this one here, really takes the cake.

I really do not know what else to say. All I know is that I love the cd, she is great artist and I wish her the best. And I heard that her live shows ROCK.

Now that, I would love too see;)

The testing of a great album is how much you play it in a couple of years and I still play this all the time! I loved Jessy's work with The Mackenzie and her solo stuff is even better. Jessy's time is still comming!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great work!!, July 21, 2006
This review is from: Rain (Audio CD)
It's summertime which means new, FAST, music for a good time... I bought this album on a whim, and you have NO idea how ecstatic I was when I listened... Her vocals are crisp and raw, while the bass and music just complement her voice perfectly.

Best vocal dance album in a while...

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing at best., August 10, 2006
This review is from: Rain (Audio CD)
I bought this album because of the great reviews given on amazon. I love vocal trance music but this album just didn't do it for me. It lacks something. The music is not catchy. It's boring and her voice is quite terrible, really terrible.

Wish I could get a refund.
