I'm a HUGE fan of Cheryl St. John! If you want romance that doesn't insult your intelligence with a genuine understanding of the West in the 1800's, she is a must on your reading list. As one of her earlier Wester Historicals, Rain Shadow is not her best work, but still an enjoyable read. She always writes earthy characters that you can relate to, and I love that each one seems unique and likable.
