5.0 out of 5 stars Just what I wanted
After years of apartments, I found that some kind of soothing sound does wonders to mask the noise of communal living. And I love rainstorms, the ones without all the thunder. The Navajo call these storms "Female Rain". When the cd I used regularly went missing a short time ago, I ordered this one. It is perfect. The rain hitting tin is slightly more intense, the...

1.0 out of 5 stars Unrealistic variation in intensity
I can't agree with the praise of the other reviewers. The intensity of the rain alternates at an unrealistic rate. About every three to five seconds or so. Programmed or doctored in this way to sound more 'natural'. It actually sounds artificial. Real rain varies of course - but not at this frequency. If the rain were steadier this would be a great CD. Compare with the...

The rain hitting tin is slightly more intense, the splash of the drops is perfect, but it is deep and even and soothing. I use it for meditation, sleep, and just for background when I read. My old cd has returned, and still gets used too, but I'm very glad I have "Rain on a Tin Roof" to add to the mix. This review would not be complete without kudus to the shipper who handled everything perfectly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spot On, February 12, 2009
This review is from: Rain On A Tin Roof: Rain Sounds CD (Audio CD)
I've "needed" rain cd's to fall asleep every since I was a young boy. My last rain cd had seen it's last day so I came upon "rain on a tin roof". I've been very pleasantly surprised by this cd. The sounds are consistent and provide a great atmosphere for sleeping or meditation. This is a very basic soundtrack with little variation in the intensity and duration of the rain. If you are looking for something simple, stripped down and spot on this is it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Liked this sound alot, November 27, 2007
This review is from: Rain On A Tin Roof: Rain Sounds CD (Audio CD)
I have heard of rain CDs before, but not one like this, where the patter sound of rain htting a metal roof adds a slightly higher pitch that I find relaxing, especially when played at night before going to sleep.

The sound also reminds me of Girl Scout camp, where as kids my friends and I huddled in a cabin during torrential summer rain storms. That is a happy memory, which this CD so nicely evokes.

This CD definitely does the job.

Compare with the much better 'Rain in the Country'.

4.0 out of 5 stars drowns out the neighbors, November 29, 2008

I bought this cd for my girlfriend. Her neighbors can be very loud as they like to fight. She turns up the volume and the noise helps her drift off to sleep.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great white noise cd, May 9, 2011

My husband snores and the more tired he is the worse he is so sleeping in the same room a couple of years ago became a little difficult but this cd has helped so much. It has a nice sound too and the wonderful sound of the rain hitting the tin helps me go to sleep and stay asleep even it my husband is snoring. This cd really blocks the noise level and I could not live without it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Sounds nothing like rain on a tin roof!, July 21, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Rain On A Tin Roof: Rain Sounds CD (Audio CD)
I hate to be the dissenter here but when I popped this into my CD player and it started up.. I literally thought someone had turned the treble on my receiver all the way down! It sounded nothing like rain hitting a tin roof! Which would have a significant portion of high frequency range. I'm originally from N. Ireland so I definitely know what rain sounds like hitting all sorts of surfaces...

This sounded more like mice running across a wooden roof... I returned mine for a refund...

Sorry...needs work.

bought this product to set up for my toddler who at the moment insists on waking at 4.30am with the sunrise, however if there is rain in the morning will sleep till six, first two mornings it didn't work, but third time lucky it worked like a charm, i set it on the cd player timer to come on at 4:15 and it last for just over an hour so she wakes at six, it's amazing how much better she is in the day wiht just an hours extra sleep.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ah! Perfect Rain on a Roof Sound CD, November 25, 2011
This review is from: Rain On A Tin Roof: Rain Sounds CD (Audio CD)
This reminds me of summers at my aunts farm house. This is the sound of a steady rain hitting a barn's tin roof. This is exactly how I remember it. However, my wife says it sounds more like canvas to her than a tin roof , so make sure you listen to the sound samples at Pure White Noise website so you know what the CD sounds like. Oh yea, try this on different CD players because depending on your speakers, the CD will sound a little different on each CD player. I use this at night to sleep, so I turn the volume down and put on headphones and off to sleep I go. Highly recommended!
